There was a similar program in Baltimore City, the Gun Trace Task Force, where the cops jumped out on anyone wearing a backpack. |
Did the officers have access to his medical records prior to him actively resisting and fleeing on foot? |
So you think these cops behaved appropriately? |
|
I haven’t heard a single law enforcement professional offer any justification of these cops’ actions. Quite the contrary, in fact.
Why are some posters here still bending over backwards to defend these officers and impugn Tyre Nichols? |
This is a good description. The cops apparently were members of a “jump out” squad. Such squads present yet another policy issue — should the police be verging on if not crossing the line between “aggressive” patrol and outright street fighting. I mean generally, not in this pparticular case. |
I had the impression that these cops pepper sprayed themselves and each other pretty regularly. |
There is a big difference between curb stomping someones face and landing a few punches and kicks. Can you even tell where the baton strikes landed? The video footage is pretty bad. You have the benefit of hindsight. If you showed that video to someone and asked them if they thought the suspect would die, I have a hard time believing many people would think that death would result. |
Because Tucker said so. There’s no other reason. |
One of them kicked him so hard in the head that he almost fell over. They also didn’t bother to render aid. |
You are obviously misconstruing what people are posting. There were several officers involved and some were more culpable than others. A lot of people posting on these topics have an axe to grind with law enforcement, so their comments are always predictable and will condemn officers regardless of the evidence. Critical thinking and nuance isn't their thing. You know, like Freddie Gray, Michael Brown, or Rayshard Brooks. |
And the victim blaming continues. |
| How are people like these 5 being hired as law enforcement? |
That's a good question. They appeared to be extremely incomptent, unprofessional, untrained, buffoons, and unable to control their emotions. The job itself sucks. It's all about dealing with difficult people and writing tons of reports. It takes a special person and personality to be able to roll with the punches and not get stressed out. There's a reason why most people will spend less than 5 yrs in patrol and then move on to another job in the department with less BS involved. But yeah, you would think anyone would be better than these guys. |
These are the exact traits they hire for. Not too bright. Willing to follow. Enjoys power and violence. God complex. |
Don’t be stupid |
