Did you see the video? I can't find it.

TBH, the justice warriors cry wolf all the time with these cases, so it's not like they have any more credibility than the NRA crowd.

They're releasing it at 6pm local (Memphis) time.

I don't think releasing the video on a Tuesday afternoon would be any better.

If people are scheduled to be at work at 9am Wednesday, they’re less likely to be out protesting (with potential for things to go off the rails) in the wee hours of Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. Friday night, people often stay out late because it’s the start of the weekend, the. There’s a whole weekend for protesting and possibilities. I’m hopeful that the way it’s being handled so far will let people feel heard and hopefully everyone stays safe.

The people who work at 9AM on Wednesdays are typically not the people protesting. They're the ones whose lives the protestors are trying to disrupt.

As horrific as this video is described to be, and as often as crimes like this are swept under the rug, I'm guessing it's going to enrage and motivate a lot of people to want to bring about change.

Also, why do you think protesters don't have day jobs? Would you care to explain what you mean?

From what I’ve been reading, the cops were in plainclothes and part of a jump out squad that call themselves The Scorpions. Their specific unit has a litany of abuse cases against them.

Further complicating the matter is that a local carjacking gang in Memphis is pretending to be plainclothes cops. They will use police lights & siren, pull over the victim, and then violently carjack the victim.

So yeah, the city is going to give this family a massive payout. Frankly, the video sounds a lot worse than George Floyd.

DP. Protestors have day jobs. Rioters? Not as often.

I have heard word locally and in other areas - there's a lot of worry about tonight and this weekend. We're cancelling plans, fwiw.

unfortunately for non-progressives, this is a horrifying case of police brutality that only hurts police officers and the general public

this is bad for everyone

Should agents of the government be allowed to kill citizens in an extrajudicial manner? What would you think if an IRS agent or livestock inspector did this to a citizen?

Agents of government should not be killing anyone.

Well, we were talking about protesters. We weren't talking about fringe groups on either side stirring up the crowd and becoming violent. We were talking about people who are so upset by police brutality to the point that they feel the need to show up and let their voices be heard.

Yes.

This is not "crying wolf". The video factually shows that the officers need to be in jail for the rest of their lives.

There is no leeway or maybes here these officers are guilty, clear as day.

Interesting how when the cops are black, decisive action is taken immediately. Let’s remember this when a white cop kills someone and the “investigation” drags on for months.

Interesting how you haven't realized that this is actually evidence that change is happening - that is proof that things get better and that people can make change happen.

I mean, that really says it all when the Chief of Police makes that comparison.

Thank god these idiots did not deactivate their body cameras.

The Memphis Police Department is putting it on YouTube.
