2023 Girls ISL and WCAC outlook

There is an opinion on the boys thread that the larger WCAC schools (and GT Prep which still has a large legacy factor)will dominate DMV lacrosse in much the way they have done in football and basketball because the IAC schools cannot compete in recruiting, less tuition $, and there is more Catholic scholarship money. Last year the SJC boys were the #1 team in the country. Will the WCAC girls lacrosse programs continue to rise similarly to the boys?

Always funny when people act like they don’t have alumni that donate money.

Some of the best area glax players are going to SJC because they seek: a great co-ed experience, strong academics, competitive athletics across multiple sports, and an established track record of recruiting players to great colleges. SJC glax has at least four players committed to Ivy schools where no scholarship money is awarded. That should tell you that money doesn’t lure players to Military Road. The opportunity to compete at a high level — and attend some of the best universities in the nation — does.

Uhhhh…. KJs team will not be the 1 seed at all. Very much a down year (with many more to come)

One thing that is certain is that VISI would be the best in the area or even country with a stable (and sane) coaching staff. This is not a shot at any of the other teams, but VISI is constantly rowing against the tide with their athletic staff. The athletic directors are morons and hire terrible coaches in every sport. If you put the VISI team with one of the other coaches they would dominate.

Lots of “if” and “would be” statements here.

Not even a visi fan or parent but this reply makes no sense….the point of the post was to say that VISIs talent is unquestionable but their coaching staff limits them

What are the current standings in the ISL?

None of the area coaches are amazing. The top schools have more depth and more talent than the second tier schools. The fact that they dominate is not due to superior coaching. It’s superior numbers. Visi is not the only school that has to overcome poor coaching or coaches that make questionable decisions.

Perhaps superior talent seeks out schools with superior coaching?

It’s not the AD that is the issue. Entitled parents run that place and the admin doesn’t support athletics. It’s pretty simple - you can tell what schools support athletics. Visi does not.

This isn't entirely true. The field hockey team, for instance, doesn't have any true, trained field hockey players, but has a great coach who makes the athletic group of girls into the top team in the ISL.

Well, SSSA in the number one spot with SR. That PP has no idea what they're talking about. Saints will probably win the ISL.

Bucky just rolls out the balls and shows up with the clipboard.

The visi coaching carousel yet again…

Also, can't overlook that Potomac has had different coaching in the last few weeks. Positive change?

Absolutely has made a difference for Potomac. Elle Golub is a great coach. Gets the best from her players because she treats them with kindness and respect and knows how to work with what she has talent-wise. Claire Bordley is the opposite. Would be great if this became a permanent change.
