Whatever the model, it’s working for Capital. The market ultimately decides success v failure. Recruiting is how every HS club’s strength is determined and Capital has proven it has that formula down.

No one said that Capital is not successful but way to move the goal post.

Oh right!!! Forgot that you get to decide what’s said here .. ttttttthat’s on me.

You just lost the argument about clinics/camps soundly and tried to make it into something else. You are free to make all the stupid comments you’d like. It is entertaining.

And you lost the argument that every other MD camp offers camps and clinics to scout talent. Divert the discussion any way you want — non profit v profit, whatever — every club holds camps to generate revenue and identify potential players. And every player who wants exposure to said clubs will pay to do it.

Every other MD club does not hold camps clinics as a cash grab / player identification. That was proven in the whole Hero’s discussion yesterday.

This is correct. Our DD is on one of the big 3 clubs and there has never been any pre tryout clinics, workouts or money grab sessions. New potential players may attend a practice prior to tryouts with no cost. The best players are chosen during tryouts without the politics or poor evaluations from coaches who have no place there.

There used to be a few spring sessions prior to tryouts for Capital. Now there are multiple sessions running all the way from fall through spring. What are those for?

Those were "skills clinics", probably very similar to the Hero's "skills academy" going on right now at Western Regional. Not surprisingly, there is a ton of demand for lacrosse training from some of the best clubs in America.

I’ll start.

Capital Blue 2028 8-8

Capital Orange 2028 1-15

This is hilarious trolling. You don't even know the draws at the tourney's yet. DG would have a heart attack trying to predict in the dark with no data.

I will still say this is low for both teams.

If your DD was lucky enough to make one of the Capital teams I wouid stop with these types of posts and predictions. it may have been entertaining during middle school but the focus now is about the future and preparing to look their best in front of the college coaches.

WRONG. Not true at all as evidenced by the results.

I get the spirit of the original comment but should have read girls that play for Stars AND go to SSSAS are shoo-in’s. Facts.

100% false. look at the results

They have to compete just like everyone else. If you count the numbers they had 1 blue, 4 orange and at least 10 did not make either. Another rumor destroyed by facts.

I would almost go so far as to say this year STARS and STARS/SSSAS girls were at a disadvantage. There were many surprises and disappointments. The culture of this particular group is that the girls are sold the dream of making Capital from the time they are in 3rd grade. That is why it is especially difficult and heartbreaking when they don't make it. I know of some girls from other teams who just hear of Capital and decide to try out. It doesn't have the same meaning to them.

What is clear is that there is demand and enough talent for more high school club programs in the DMV.

Again - not true. Only about half of the girls who played for STARS and go to SSSAS made Capital.

I feel for the kids and parents in that situation. The history of girls from Stars making it sounds like it's a decent chance, but not a guarantee. Does the head coach there just do a really good job of overselling the possibility? That's also a weird culture, to prep girls to leave a team. Is there no aspiration for Stars to have a HS team?

The head coach is intertwined with Capital is are some of the assistant coaches. There's a conflict of interest at a minimum. If they put their players on Capital teams, the better SSSAS becomes.

Girls lacrosse is such a weirdly incestuous world, small enough that one continues to trip over the same coaches. It makes the typical travel sports politics that much worse. We are just getting started in this world and already seeing the same faces. Makes me extra cautious not to burn bridges and be respectful to all parents and coaches.

Sounds like you are employing basic best practices in human relations. Probably should do that anyway, regardless if it has lacrosse benefits.

LOL, fair. I would not otherwise be a witch, but I feel like I need to walk on eggshells for fear of pissing off the wrong parent.
