Face it, the current model for the top clubs in DC - Capital, Pride and Stars is for profit. That means they try to maximize their dollars for the owners anyway they can. The days of a more altruistic club scene in DC where maybe it was to prepare girls, play or just cover costs and pay coaches are over.
Whatever the model, it’s working for Capital. The market ultimately decides success v failure. Recruiting is how every HS club’s strength is determined and Capital has proven it has that formula down.
No one said that Capital is not successful but way to move the goal post.
Oh right!!! Forgot that you get to decide what’s said here .. ttttttthat’s on me.
You just lost the argument about clinics/camps soundly and tried to make it into something else. You are free to make all the stupid comments you’d like. It is entertaining.
And you lost the argument that every other MD camp offers camps and clinics to scout talent. Divert the discussion any way you want — non profit v profit, whatever — every club holds camps to generate revenue and identify potential players. And every player who wants exposure to said clubs will pay to do it.
Every other MD club does not hold camps clinics as a cash grab / player identification. That was proven in the whole Hero’s discussion yesterday.
This is correct. Our DD is on one of the big 3 clubs and there has never been any pre tryout clinics, workouts or money grab sessions. New potential players may attend a practice prior to tryouts with no cost. The best players are chosen during tryouts without the politics or poor evaluations from coaches who have no place there. There used to be a few spring sessions prior to tryouts for Capital. Now there are multiple sessions running all the way from fall through spring. What are those for?
Those were "skills clinics", probably very similar to the Hero's "skills academy" going on right now at Western Regional. Not surprisingly, there is a ton of demand for lacrosse training from some of the best clubs in America.
Fake news
