Really mean! It's horrible to have to be forced onto welfare instead of working. And if that's not punishment enough, now people from fly-over country and imposing restrictions to punish people for being poor!

Not that I agree with this, but going to the movies on the tax payers dime isn't the same as going on your own.
I think the whole thing would have been better if they'd forced people on welfare to do budget classes. My MIL is a social worker and 90% of her patients can't manage a household budget. They can't make $800 in grocery money last until the end of the month. |

Because the purpose of welfare is to provide basic necessities for those who are poor. Not to fund things that many people with low wage jobs can't afford such as trips to the casino and tattoos. |

Life is certainly unfair. And, not everyone has been raised properly to be equipped to deal with life.
The sad, but true, onerous bottom line is that if someone gets money from the taxpayers, they need to adhere to certain standards. And, if they don't like it, they have to make really tough choices and take birth control, live on a budget, try to stay healthy, etc. Being poor is not fun and not for the faint of heart. |

Well what about the hard working, lawful, law-abiding businesses being hurt here too?
Owning a casino or becoming an artist specializing in body art is not easy. Those folks will be harmed by this too! |

| I partially agree. I think its fine to restrict gambling and tattoos, but I would allow some $$$ to go for entertainment. Not fair that kids have to suffer. |

What do you mean forced onto welfare instead of working? That is ridiculous. Also it isn't a form of punishment. "Regular" folks aren't "allowed" they choose to get those things, because they can afford to. These are not rights. Welfare is meant to be a hand up to provide in the meantime while you look for employment or acquire skills to become employed. It is not meant to even some imaginary playing field of rights or to redistribute wealth. If you want people who are poor to get tattoos or gamble then you should start a charity that does that, instead of get up in arms that the government and taxpayers don't pay for it. |
