Maybe to get an education? |
Women’s. Great athletes. Bad soccer. |
The risk manager from another league in Michigan - CASL - named Chris Elliott went on the WSSL FB post and confirmed they got the same message. No one’s hand is forced to say anything. Does your club communicate well? I’m sure these leagues are worse than even our clubs at communicating. |
Exactly, it’s like the SoCal email from last month. It’s a league doing things right. In comparison, you have these turds at ECNL and US club trying to do stuff behind the scenes with all their maneuvers and leaving everyone else in the dark and that’s what we’re supposed to be waiting on? With bated breath? Clearly not an abusive relationship…. |
Yes, that Twitter account is a rumor trader. But to be fair in September, they posted that it looked unlikely. |
| New to this thread, and it’s interesting how invested people are in this issue. It seems to me that there will always be a 12 month spread no matter how they place the cut offs. Younger kids will always be at a slight disadvantage. It’s just going to be different kids. So the real issue is “trapped” players? An extra year of exposure doesn’t necessarily seem like a bad thing if your player is strong? So are all the SY advocates parents of smaller August-December players that aren’t getting much playing time? And if we moved to SY we’d have a similar issue with parents of February-July birthdays? Let’s just pick a cut off and live with it instead of upending these teams every 10 years. |
Duh. You’re a Feb parent huh |
Let’s see. ECNL PODCAST - CEO says they will go school year even if they go alone. USYS CEO on LinkedIn - Joint statement between AYSO/USCS/USYS thanking everyone in their participation that helped get this through. At the end of the day, ECNL stepped in sh!+ |

ECNL can change the dates of their league to School Year to enhance recruiting and eliminate the trapped 8th and 12th grade players without forcing all clubs and leagues to do the say.
The practical implications are though that if ECNL and/or ECRL does it and gets a benefit from enhanced recruiting that GA will likely follow suit followed by NPL, DPL, etc as they won't want to be at a disadvantage. It won't change how Rec chooses to operate (although many local leagues already do school year) and doesn't necessarily affect all levels of competitive soccer. Although the writing would be on the wall if they want to keep their higher level players from jumping to a club that does do school year based teams with dreams of college scholarships (or I guess, playing with friends). That's how ECNL survived against DA. They were able to sell HS ball and it was effective enough to keep the league going at a high level. You only need one advantage to sell to parents. |
Yes. The whiny 'but my poor baby!' are the only one din here making this a 200 page thread. They say the same thing over and over. I dislike waiting 10 years to go back if they are going to. I still don't understand why anyone cares this much outside of hoping their sweet baby gets a scholarship to college. Life sucks and someone has to get the shirt end if the stick. Stop complaining and just deal with it. |
| Alabama and South Carolina have also been notified. Calm yourselves |
Show it |
| Dang. You ecnl folks are in shambles. Your superior league let alllllll 120 clubs down. Shame.. |
| At this point US Soccer needs to come out and say it’s not happening PERIOD. Please spare everyone with a it’ll be reevaluated next year message. Just give clear direction. If it’s not happening, say it. If it’s not happening this upcoming season but will be implemented in 26/27, say it. |
Says you. They like their soccer. And could care less if you do not. |
