Calm down… They said they will address this in December.

Get through the holiday. You will be ok…..

They should’ve said this Friday night. They already know if they’re changing it in 26/27. We don’t need more specifics other than the cutoff and the season it’ll start. I don’t care about the rest of the rollout plan

Yeah lets see them stand on their decision. At this point they have to say something and make it clear to all. If you have the power show it!

OK. No decision was apparently made to implement or not implement in 26/27 -- do you want them to lie? No change was put in. They may never make an announcement as nothing has changed. What would they announce -- nothing has changed? There is a good post by someone on CST who says that this has been reevaluated every year and this year is just like the last ones except people (like on this board) went overboard based on those comments from ECNL. What I think that psoter was saying is that there was never a serious look at changing.

But they have not decided at all about 26/27.

Prediction: Next official announcement on this topic will not be on the WSSL Facebook page (a great rec travel league, BTW, who were doing a great service to all by sharing the update yesterday) BUT actually here on Forum Page 999. Not until the discussion gets there will anyone know the TRUE plan!

Now, ECNL looks stupid. And weak. ECNL aligns under US Club. US Club put out their statement with the other associations that they would move in solidarity. They’re not going to now let ECNL go it alone now. And who cares if they do? MLS/GA won.

Imcollegesoccer proved to be a fraud too. Fake sources were tell them that it was a done deal. Oops.

Yep. ECNL looks very weak. They had people go to every Forum and convince folks that this was happening.

Had Joint statements saying this was a done deal… it was all just a big let down.

All the while, GA and MLS walked light and carried a big stick.

I'm no fanboy of ECNL, but there were no joint statements this was happening (just reviewed) or sending people to forums. Stop being an a$$hat.

Let’s see.

ECNL PODCAST - CEO says they will go school year even if they go alone.

USYS CEO on LinkedIn - Joint statement between AYSO/USCS/USYS thanking everyone in their participation that helped get this through.

At the end of the day, ECNL stepped in sh!+

Couple of issues --- ECNL never said that. CEO was thinking out loud not saying what would happen. Never a done deal. People have been saying that.

The practical implications are though that if ECNL and/or ECRL does it and gets a benefit from enhanced recruiting that GA will likely follow suit followed by NPL, DPL, etc as they won't want to be at a disadvantage.

It won't change how Rec chooses to operate (although many local leagues already do school year) and doesn't necessarily affect all levels of competitive soccer. Although the writing would be on the wall if they want to keep their higher level players from jumping to a club that does do school year based teams with dreams of college scholarships (or I guess, playing with friends).

That's how ECNL survived against DA. They were able to sell HS ball and it was effective enough to keep the league going at a high level. You only need one advantage to sell to parents.

No one will change anything now.

They definitely have. There is no board meeting between now and the end of the year, which is when they promised further details.

Makes the most sense. And with the social media era, I think ECNL thought they could get enough traction to get folks to push this through.

It was a good attempt. It has had the soccer world in a frenzy over the past few months.

For all you that were calling around to new clubs trying to find a spot for your kid, congratulations. You played yourselves. Hope your coach finds out you’ve been exploring.

What did we learn here guys. Don’t believe everything you read.

This is why no club director was letting their paying customers know what to expect fall 2025.

You’re delusional. They absolutely know what’s happening for 26/27

Yes he did. He said that he would rather everyone go, but ultimately they will go that route.

Anyone have an inside scoop on this? Is it a done deal for 2026?

The latest ECNL podcast seems pretty definitive without declaring it to be final.

Just reposting this so everybody remembers how this debacle began. The BY vs SY issue happens EVERY year. Difference this year is that the ECNL podcast gave it a platform, and then the proponents of it RAN with it, spreading hysteria in the world of social media.

Yup. Maybe this was a trial run for engagement.
