What about that person last fall with the “leaked maps”

They were an insider. A high-up empire . Their last post on this board was about Monday, April 7. I keep track. I keep receipts.

Employee, not empire. You get the idea.

Lewis screwed, Langley coddled. Business as usual in FCPS.

So I guess Oakton Waples Mill is the staying put for Franklin and Oakton HS.

So are those HV neighborhoods also moving to newington forest or did they create a new HV split feeder by moving 90 kids?

I think it's annoying that they didn't provide clearer maps with streets. I also think they need to explain the elementary school plan for the Hunt Valley kids that got moved to South County. Is Hunt Valley now a split feeder? Or are those kids also moving to Newington Forest (putting it way over capacity)? That's a pretty crucial part of the equation to leave out. How do you give community feedback without knowing that?

Also, is that a Sangster attendance island that is now going to SC? I can't understand that part of the map. Would that mean Sangster now has kids going to LBSS, SCSS, and WSHS?

I feel like the current administration/environment had something to do with toning down the moves. If this was a Biden or Harris administration for sure the Langley/Herndon and WSHS/Lewis outcomes would look different. That said, I didn't support the boundary review and am happy with the outcomes.

This is just showing over capacity. Last time it was split feeders and next it’s supposed to be another factor. I believe they are supposed to merge the 3 into a reasonable solution.

I’m pretty certain these are the merged maps. This is what they are soliciting feedback on

I think these are the merged maps.

The Sangster island moved to Newington and SoCo is shown on this map.

This map does not have the little Navy island that they shift to Oak Hill/Chantilly. I guess that's another part of Oak Hill that will go to Oakton?

I don't think that has anything to do with Trump.

Westfield has 2700+ students and hundreds of new construction townhouses and condos going up in its boundary. Why are they adding a hundred more students to Westfield? Its full now!

And 11th grade.

Only seniors stay

Kids who are in 11th the year prior are the same ones that will be seniors, silly.

For now. If Armstrong hits 41% by the next round, the stage has been set for FCPS to “balance” some of that capacity with part of Forestville. Their focus should be on addressing the root cause of all if this 8130.8. They should actively recruit and support local and at large SB candidates that: 1) are electable in Fairfax County, and 2) will publicly commit to roll back 8130.8 to a more reasonable approach.

and this then goes back to the whole IB/AP issue. So kids who started in AP HS would have to move to IB? Or vice versa? That's crazy. Is that how it happened in the past - no grandfathering?

They had to play games to get Chantilly down to 105% which was their magic number. Those neighborhoods are going to scream about being moved from CHS. The lines drawn cut right thru neighborhoods and make even more split feeders.

I thought Herndon HS had so many empty seats that Something had to be done? No?

I still don’t understand why they touched Coates when that’s going through a more thorough process.

Between now and five years from now, there are school board elections. Organize now. Recruit candidates now. Someone who can get elected and will run on reversing this misguided approach.
