She seems very in denial about who she was married to, or perhaps overcompensating for his coldness with her effusiveness.

She knew he had affairs even before they moved to VA but had a child with him and stayed married.

He was talking about how it would be easier if she "was not around" YEARS before JPM arrived, to at least one other affair partner. It was only a matter of time and planning. JPM was a means to an end.

There are stories about him stealing money from a bank while a trainee, just a life of antisocial behavior. Likely on the spath spectrum given what he did to Joe and Christine. Look forward to the day he is sentenced. Hopefully he will never walk free again.
