| My son has between a B+ to A- average and got an 84th percentile overall on the HSPT and he got wait listed at SJC? I had no idea that they were that competitive. What do you think are the chances that he gets in on the wait list? |
| I would think the list will move a lot. Did he apply to other schools? Many kids apply to multiple schools. Hang in there! |
| Maybe the recommendations weren't solid |
| The chances are good, I would think. It is not all about grades and test scores, though, it is also about his talents and activities which contribute to the school community. |
| Op here, the worst part about it is that his friend who is a B student and who's a trouble maker and who got 71 percentile on HSPT got in! |
OP, is his friend an athlete or from a prominent family? And are you in a Catholic elementary /middle school, public or independent? |
OP, don't do that-- it makes you look pathetic. Your perception of this child is just your perception. You disn't see the recommendations or transcript so you have no idea. |
Op here, you are completely right. I think I was just not very happy about the results and so I said that. I don't know everything about his admissions and I am embarrassed of what I said. |
| According to DS's acceptance letter, there were over 1,000 applicants...not sure how many were accepted. OP, many of those accepted will go elsewhere, so hang in there. And, that was nice of you to apologize for your statement. |
| OP, I was the one who called you out. Nice to take a step back. I also posted about the list moving. Lots of kids applied to a lot of schools. It will move. Was SJc his top choice? |
|
OP - we've all been there, felt it - you just said it, and then regretted it. It's all good. We were in the same place last year, and everything worked out just fine. SJC has gotten more competitive and applications are higher than the other catholic schools. But, the list will move and I hope your son gets in. I would suggest having him send a letter that reaffirms his commitment to SJS, that it is his first choice and he will attend it admitted. If anything has changed since the app, let them know - ie competed in something, participated in play, etc. Good luck, I know it's nerve wracking!

Op here, yes it was and again I am embarrassed about what I said. |
| He can have my son's spot. We made a family decision today to go with Wilson. The $20K can be spent on enrichment, camps and vacations. We could do the tuition, but we'd feel it every day. SJC is a great school. We feel he can get a solid education at Wilson. |
Thank you for forgiving my very rude mistake. And yes thank you I think that's a great idea to send in another letter to tell them how commited my son is. |
| You can have my sons place to , he's will go to Gza |
