| The right wing, whose leader called for the execution of members of Congress a couple months ago, is filled with trepidation over “verbal assaults,” also known as yelling at someone. |
And the DOJ's civil rights unit wants to investigate the church disturbance (which did not involve anyone getting hurt or dying), but refuses to investigate the shooting of Renee Good, even though it is the entity that usually investigates the killing of civilians by LEO. I don't think it was a good move to yell at people attending a church service, but on a scale of bad things, it is a lot less troubling than shooting a civilian 4 times at close range. |
What was the chaos in Minneapolis 3 months ago? |

Stop lying. NYT: On Sunday, Todd Blanche, the deputy attorney general, defended the Justice Department’s decision to not investigate the agent who fatally shot Ms. Good, saying that doing so would be bowing to “pressure from the media” and politicians. “We investigate when it’s appropriate to investigate, and that is not the case here,” Mr. Blanche said on “Fox News Sunday.” “We don’t just go out and investigate every time an officer is forced to defend himself against somebody.” The Justice Department has instead pushed to investigate Ms. Good’s widow, prompting several federal prosecutors in the state to resign. |

maybe you missed the headline... Activists interrupted the service of a Southern Baptist church in St. Paul, MN, today to protest that one of the pastors is the acting director of the nearby ICE field office https://publicwitness.wordandway.org/p/protesters-disrupt-southern-baptist |
I don't think protesters should have interrupted the service, but I have to wonder how someone can be a pastor AND work for ICE. Like you're all tough guy at work and all love-thy-neighbor on Sunday? But, then again, it appears to be a conservative evangelical church so very much on brand. At least the Catholic Church, flawed as it may be, has taken a stand against mistreating migrants. |
I am the person who posted the article and I agree...services shouldn't be interrupted, but the bolded is the key point. |
The Civil Rights Division has seen the evidence and determined there is nothing worth bringing charges, no civil rights violation. |
ICE is operating in those states as well. The states and cities are working with ICE and preventing activists from interfering. In Minnesota and other areas Democrat leaders are withholding police protection, and supporting obstruction. |
Supporting obstruction how? |
Yes, because the DOJ is now comprised of partisan hacks. |
You are supporting authoritarianism. Minnesotans are not protesting. They are fighting against federal insurgents who are unidentified, untrained and out of control. |
Hi Harmeet! I know you're busy investigating Renee Good's widow (but not the ICE officer who shot Renee), but let me clue you in. Your division and the whole DOJ as a whole have zero credibility. That's why six prosecutors quit in protest recently. I can't imagine anything worse for the DOJ than to not be trusted by the public. Just close up shop already.
