...Crown is west of 270. |
This only takes geography into account. Once the BOE starts race-balancong the schools as per the boundary policy, they'll "need" to bus kids all over the area. |
Welcome to the MCPS Interactive Boundary Explorer (IBE)! This platform was developed to give the MCPS community an opportunity to interact with the data being analyzed as part of the Districtwide Boundary Analysis, and add their voice to the process. On the IBE, you can get context about this analysis, explore the data yourself using the interactive tool, and add your voice to the process using the survey. This website is the main vehicle for collecting public feedback and insights during Phase 2 of the Districtwide Boundary Analysis. After spending time exploring this website, please take 10-15 minutes to fill out the survey. The input gathered through this survey will be analyzed and included in the final report to the Board of Education. To make sure your response is counted in the final report and analysis, please fill out the survey by December 1, 2020. Note: the survey will remain online through the end of the year. |
There is one spot west of 270 that's in. It looks like the area North of 28, South of Fields Rd, West of Shady Grove, and East of Muddy Branch-Great Seneca-Sam Eig will be part of Crown HS. East of 270, north of Redland Road is in, most of MV is out, and a huge chunk of Laytonsville is in? |
Please. The data was hidden. There's no way that MCPS can claim they were seeking public comments. Sooo sneaky!!! |
People. Nothing is in or out. The boundary study hasn't even started yet and won't be finalized until 2024-25. |
Does everyone now agree - it's time to vote out the board? I'm in! |
That is just an outline of the Gaithersburg cluster...which is the cluster that contains the Crown site. Just like the Woodward arrow is pointing to the WJ cluster, which is the cluster that contains the Woodward site. It has nothing to do with the boundaries of the new schools. |
It's time to vote out the board, because as part of the districtwide boundary analysis, they put up an interactive tool designed for community members to understand and engage with data related to utilization, diversity, and proximity of schools in MCPS, and then left the tool up after the districtwide boundary analysis was finished? I mean, that's not the conclusion I personally would draw, but you do you, I guess. |
Specifically what it's in is: the current Gaithersburg HS service area. https://gis.mcpsmd.org/ServiceAreaMaps/GaithersburgHS.pdf |
I get it. You want more parents to feel the pain you have. |
There you go again. 90% of a small group of self selected parents who responded to a survey. |
The zones are only created if and when a boundary study is begun. When a study includes elementary schools, they will create these smaller zones within each school's existing boundaries. If it's a high school boundary study, they will often use the elementary schools rather than creating zones. That is what happened in the Clarksburg/Northwest/Seneca Valley study, which had these provisions: • No elementary school boundaries will change as part of this boundary study. • Elementary school service areas will be used as the building blocks for possible middle school and high school options. |
In that study, they did end up using smaller "building blocks" for several of the schools. |
PP you're responding to, again. What pain? We're happy with the new school. |
