Shutdown Rhetoric

CHIP could have been passed anytime unanimously over the past 5 months, but the GOP chose instead to use it as a bargaining chip.

That’s right. 9 million American citizens will lose health insurance because the Dems are fixated on 700,000 non residents. That’s some tough optics that I’m not sure Schumer has fully thought through.

Democrats are not in charge. This failure is wholly owned by the Republican controlled congress.

Nope it's on both of them are responsible. They all will have blood on those hands when those kids die.

Oh please. If you put up a CHIP bill on its own, Dems will vote for it unanimously. Therefore it is clear that the blood is on the R's hands. They are the ones who wanted this card to play in the budget debate.

LOL. McConnell doesn't even have 50 Republicans! The only way you get to 60 is to put something up there that 13 Democrats will vote for. Why is this math hard? It's on McConnell for not knowing how to count votes, Ryan for sending him something they knew would fail, and Cotton and Trup for blowing up the negotiation a week ago.

The CR only funds for one month. The DACA "deadline" is more than one month away. None of the disagreement is even about what is in the CR -- it's about what's not, which isn't do or die at this point because Dems will be back in a position to shut it all down in a month if they don't get a compromise by then.

Let's not forget there are plenty of Republicans who want to keep DACA. The top business lobby right now has giant banners celebrating the Dreamers right across from the White House.

I think Trump was horrifically wrong to talk about 'shithole' countries, but I think Dems own part of this by putting energy into smearing, rather than rising above to focus on a deal.

There's no way Donald can survive without his favorite toys.

He'll be conceding to the Democrats shortly...he wants that Mar-o-Lago chocolate cake and ice cream badly...like every other 4-year-old.

Are you Socrates?

While you are dancing in glee and squealing about Republicans vs Democrats kids are going to die.

He'll go no matter what. He'll tweet a bunch of demands and throw Congress into a tizzy and then get on the next flight to Florida, saying he'll sign whatever they put on his desk Sunday morning.

No way he's missing his little party. No. Way.

Please! It's always the Democrats who are called upon to compromise and clean up the GOP's messes. Not this time. The party of 'no' owns this one.

Can you read? We Democrats wanted it passed months ago. Repos held onto it as a bargaining chip. This is 100% the Repos shutdown. #ShitholeShutdown

It didn't have to fail they could negotiate after or before they ( both Ds an Rs) are choosing to put the lives of adults over the lives of innocent and defenseless children.

Because Captain Numbnuts threw down the "shithole countries" last week when they were supposed to be talking this crap through and he has to run off for bad golf and cake at his mansion. He hasn’t got time for this stuff.
