Shutdown Rhetoric

None of the disagreement is even about what is in the CR -- it's about what's not, which isn't do or die at this point because Dems will be back in a position to shut it all down in a month if they don't get a compromise by then.

Let's not forget there are plenty of Republicans who want to keep DACA. The top business lobby right now has giant banners celebrating the Dreamers right across from the White House.

I think Trump was horrifically wrong to talk about 'shithole' countries, but I think Dems own part of this by putting energy into smearing, rather than rising above to focus on a deal.

The DACA deadline is long past. Every day people are falling out of DACA status right now. It’s a mess.

Can you read? We Democrats wanted it passed months ago. Repos held onto it as a bargaining chip. This is 100% the Repos shutdown. #ShitholeShutdown

Can you think for yourself beyond what you are spoofed by Maddow and O'donnell? But you keep jumping up and down because TRUMP while a 2yo dies.

Well it looks like 850mil illegals or 3.6mil of them are WAY WAY more important than 850k federal employees, all US citizens. Won't forget that going forward.

I'm shocked there's another thinking person on DCUM.

I'm a contractor for the fed. I heard they're gonna shut down. Bye! On a plane Tuesday to Ft. Lauderdale until next Monday. Life doesn't stop folks.

Trump and Schumer had a deal this afternoon. Then Trump walked away...

That’s right. 9 million American citizens will lose health insurance because the Dems are fixated on 700,000 non residents. That’s some tough optics that I’m not sure Schumer has fully thought through.

Democrats are not in charge. This failure is wholly owned by the Republican controlled congress.

Nope it's on both of them are responsible. They all will have blood on those hands when those kids die.

Oh please. If you put up a CHIP bill on its own, Dems will vote for it unanimously. Therefore it is clear that the blood is on the R's hands. They are the ones who wanted this card to play in the budget debate.

The House did put up a CHIP bill on its own in the House in November. Only 15 Democrats supported it. The Senate didn't take it up. That's the problem we're in... there are far too many Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle who won't vote for things that they 100% agree on and believe in because it was introduced by the wrong party. It's insanity.

No, hon. This is on the Republicans.

And I don’t watch either of those shows.

And there is absolutely zero trust or credibility about promises made for a clean DACA bill. Look what they did to Collin and healthcare. If they can rescind that promise, then nothing is safe.
