What is OED? |
Who is left to lay off? |
What does aoon mean? And which of one of the FFRDCS MITRE Operates? |
900 employees |
You really think those left will be hit by layoffs? Were those at IDA affected earlier this week permanently let go or are they on some other wait and see status? |
100 or so true layoffs. A whole lot more furloughed or shifted to part time. A friend there says the management is working pretty hard to find sponsors/coverage for them. Makes sense, a reserve of expertise that can’t be quickly (re)constituted is a main selling point of a studies FFRDC. |
If Hegseth restricts "advisory and assistance services contracts" like he says he wants to do, then yes. https://media.defense.gov/2025/May/28/2003725174/-1/-1/1/MEMORANDUM-DIRECTING-IMPLEMENTATION-OF-EXECUTIVE-ORDER-14222-DEPARTMENT-OF-GOVERNMENT-EFFICIENCY-COST-EFFICIENCY-INITIATIVE.PDF |
IDA seems to do the same studies over and over again. Booz, CACI, Leidos, and other body shops can easily do these rinse and repeat task orders. |
Your grasp of the full breadth of the company’s work is as impressive as it is real. |
If IDA is laying everyone off, there isn't much breadth that is left. |
Reading comprehension and basic math skills appear equally strong. |
Good luck to you and your colleagues. |
All of the FFRDCs will need luck. They are one EO or SecDef memo away from elimination. |
Sure they do. |
I never understood why IDA always got sole-sourced contracts from DOT&E. Why not compete these out every few years? DOT&E uses CSIOS Corp for defensive cyberspace operations... so we know they can bid this work out competitively. |
