This is so stupid. If it is not an objective standard then there is no point to the declaration. He was in fact a drug addict. End of story. It is not so different than declaring that you will reside in a home in order to receive a conforming mortgage. It doesn’t matter what your belief or intent is, what matters is what you do. |
No, it’s not a stupid argument. Hunter had been in rehab prior to purchasing the gun. He truly could’ve been thinking he was over using. Anyway, we can say as much as we want to say, but the only people who decide on this 12 every day Americans. I don’t like this case, but I’ll standby with the jury put forth and then I will let the appeals process out. |
My prediction:
Hung jury/jury nullification. |
Of course it matters what your intent is. The false statement has to be willful in order to be a crime. |
You've got it backwards. Residency is about intent, not about what you do - if you change your mind the next day. |
Jury will reconvene deliberations tomorrow. If you want Biden to win in November you better hope they return a guilty verdict. Otherwise the guy screaming “it’s rigged” is going to win in a landslide. |
So the prosecutor said that going to rehab is an admission/acknowledgement of being an addict? IOW, discouraging anyone from ever going to rehab?
This prosecution is so ill-advised. Everything about it. Everything. |
Do you even hear yourself? I don’t give a 💩 what Trump says. The prosecution made their case. I think it’s weak. But whatever. The jury of 12 everyday people will make the judgement. Should we dox them and insist they convict, regardless of their findings so MAGA doesn’t have a tantrum? |
How is it not? Do you think non addicts go to rehab? Or to be more specific, do you think addicts should have a gun? Part of rehabilitation is acknowledging you have a problem and yes, that means recognizing you shouldn’t acquire a gun. I mean, this is pure common sense. |
He had just finished a stint in rehab in and maybe he did think he was clean. |
If so, I never want to hear the left talk about “common sense gun control” ever again. |
The weaponization occurred with the plea deal that came about after the statute of limitations for more serious charges were allowed to run out. |
Having gone to rehab - what - half a dozen times or so? - he should know better than anyone that he is an addict. This is one of the first things they learn in rehab. |
No. The left thinks he should be found guilty. Then it sets a strong precedent to convict at the federal level every other gun purchaser who is addicted. Excellent first step. |
Oh yeh, like this is a fair or legitimate trial. Prosecution: "Nobody is above the law!" EXCEPTION: Hallie Biden went into Hunter’s truck, broke into the lockbox, stole his gun then proceeded to throw it out in a public trash can. EXCEPTION: The gun shop BROKE THE LAW by selling gun without proper ID. The gun shop owner amended the form years after the fact. |
