Orange and Osceola don’t vote for DeSantis so he doesn’t care if their property taxes go up. Because today’s Republicans govern only to benefit their supporters, not all the people.

The vote within Florida doesn’t operate on the electoral college system. Even if the wouldn’t take the entire county, there are votes within each county that matter toward to the total result.

Politico which leans center to center right had an interesting article how Republicans keep losing the culture wars. It didn’t work with the NFL and it isn’t going to work with Disney. Disney’s best play is to come out with a simple statement that it will continue to support the diversity of ALL of their employees and guests regardless of race, gender, or sexual preference. “ That’s it and then enjoy the 1 billion dollar debt right off and 160 million tax break. The counties will end up needing to recreate another special district and Disney will have the leverage to negotiate an even better deal.

This seems like the right take. I have sort of wondered why Disney hasn't come out swinging, but at the end of the day I think Disney comes out better in all of this. And now they can direct their political donations thusly.

An enormous percentage of americans families have members that are gay or have suffered a sexual assault, or have terminated a pregnancy, or are minorities, or are immigrants, or are imprisoned, etc, ect. How are these culture wars to be won when most of the population are families that include people bring attacked by the war?

1) Try to get a new a CEO who can smooth things over with the State government
2) If that doesnt work they should pay off their autonomous zone's debts to the bond holders (otherwise I suspect bond holders will be left holding the bag).
3) Petition to be entirely in one county. Kind of crazy for them to have deal with emergency services of 2 counties.

There's nothing to "smoothe over". The idea that a company is only allowed to support republicans is ridiculous and would send a terrible message to people.

Bond holders will not be left holding the bag. They are secured. Orange County and it’s residents will be responsible for that debt. On the day the district ceases to exist in 2023. That is why there will be a deal here that will be fine for Disney.
