Well, if it was done more recently she would have said that. And heartworm meds are most often sold in 6 packs. |
|
I would leave. My vet only requires a negative heart worm test to write a new prescription. They have never once asked me for proof that I’m giving my dog the meds. What if someone bought a full year’s worth of heartworm pill and then neglected to give their dog any, for example?
Run, don’t walk. |
OK Karen - how about producing the test results and calling the office? |
My current vet charges more for the medicines they dispense from the office compared to what can be found online or at Costco. I am happy to buy from them if the price difference is something I can afford and they will also readily allow their clients to order online if it fits their budget better. My former vet was adamant that people only buy medicines directly from them and then complained when several people left. |
OP said that the dog tested negative. Congratulations on calling an Indian woman Karen BTW.
|
| They lied to you about the FDA requiring proof of continued medication. That's reason enough to leave. |
Indian people can be named Karen too.....And yes the dog tested negative....so just get the results and share it with the office.... |
Somehow there is a reading comprehension problem here. OP had the dog tested at main office and they still wouldn't give them pills without proof they were already taking them. |
| All OP has to do is have a new test. Then she can get more medicine. |
+1 There must be a miscommunication. An empty box proves nothing. A negative test done now does prove that the dog is either eligible to start taking the meds or needs to be treated for worms. |
| I feel like this vet would be better off without OP as a client. Feel bad for the dog, though. |
|
Vets are swamped right now and you're going to have to wait months to get into another place and risk your dog getting infected. Just ask to get the dog re-tested in order to get the prescription. You might be frustrated, but in the end, you're just spinning your wheels and wasting time. Some battles aren't worth the energy to fight them.
Signed, Someone whose rescue dog had to go through heartworm treatment - not fun. |
No, she didn’t want to do the test. She wanted the vet to take her word for it a test ever happened. I doubt it did, since she is unwilling to call the other vet and have the results sent. |
EXACTLY!!! The owner didn't show the vet proof she had the test done elsewhere. Wanted the vet to "trust her". Bah. Pictures or it didn't happen.... |
| Vet here - if this is all it takes for you to want to leave, don't let the door hit you on the way out. I will have your spot filled in less than five minutes. Go ahead. Make my day. |
