I’m the OP. My friend told me she definitely heard multiple police and other people on the scene in the lobby speaking about their relationship as “transactional” in nature. The guy arrested was a client and she was an escort. It wasn’t domestic at all.

I lived in another non DC wealthier suburb, and most crime involved spouses trying to kill each other and sexual abuse of kids and child pornography.

Except there they put it on the news whenever it happened, probably because there was so little crime.
