| Remarkable how few are going to UMD, the primary state school. |
| Do you think these kids are going to Ivies because they went to Whitman? Don’t you think these kids with the same parents, family support, legacy status and athletic abilities would get into the same colleges regardless of where they went to high school? I don’t think it’s Whitman that doing it. It’s the kind of parents who choose to send their kids to Whitman. |
And half of the Blair magnet goes to UMD. This isn’t because the Blair kids are less talented than the Whitman kids. |
This is not the full list. Usually over 50 go to UMD I am sure when the full list is out, it will be the same |
Not half, about 30-40 |
It is more than that. It's always over 100 each year. For example, last year 267 Whitman students applied and 174 got accepted. |
Only people with low expectations would aim for state schools. |
Agree. U. Penn is right down there with Grand Canyon and Trump U. |
you're a moron and, sadly, there may be nothing you can do about it |
| More impressive than privates. |
Funny, I grew up in DC and a state school was my first choice when I applied 40 years ago. My kid went to a "big 3" and wanted to go to a state school as their first choice. I don't think either of us had or have low expectations. |
U. Penn is not a state school. But Michigan, UCLA, Cal, Wisconsin, (heck, I'll throw UF in there too) are. They are all great schools and a lot of fun, too. |
What a lofty expectation for college, having "fun". Please shoot me now. |
I have very awesome memories of college AND did well! Fun is one of the criteria I tell my kid to think about when choosing a college |
The comment about aiming for state schools is moronic, but U Penn is not a state school. So this reply makes no sense. |
