How many units of Botox do you get?

Anonymous
The number of units question is not particularly revealing. Forehead and 11's can really add to the total. My injector spa person carefully plots out the facial diagram of how many units per spot and these can vary slightly if its been longer than usual since the last injection. I average 48-50 units but that is 3 areas once you add in the crows feet. Face is not frozen aka plastic, calling this surgery is laughable its a lunchtime procedure with 0 downtime

I get 50 units in my forehead, 11s, and a touch in my crows feet. I’d like to get more, but the effective path is not more at once, just go more frequently.

It relaxes muscles so arched brows is NOT Botox. Probably a lift.

It relaxes muscles so a dermatologist/surgeon will NOT inject it near your mouth. Wtf. You’ll be like drunky talky. My derm laughed at the idea of mouth injections.

Wow, you get a LOT. How old are you? I get 30 units, same spots, including a "touch" in crow's feet. I'm 53 and go every five months.

It does lead to arched brows, sadly. But not 30 units.

Thank you? I am in my 40s and have been doing it for at least 10 years. So I'm happy to answer questions.
It's all preventative (so far) and yes I have super strong muscles. Sometimes (maybe every 4 times or so?) I have almost no response at all. Most of the time it is amazing and actually improves my mood. My doctor loves me and has hooked me up with free doses when she has some all mixed that will go to waste.

Correct on the amount being reasonable, wrong on the brows- Botox can over arch your brows. Muscles work in opposing pairs; Botox placement can flatten brow or arch.

Also somewhat wrong about the mouth. It’s off label to use on the lower face but I’ve had it to smooth my chin and for a “lip flip “. It can also reduce the look of a “gummy” smile. It isn’t used for smile lines like someone up thread mentioned, she’s confused.

This is the ultimate DCUM thread.

Anyone do it for just the 11s? I have horizontal lines too but kind of love them. Had them since my 20s. They’re not deep. I furrow my brow a lot…

If you love them why would you get Botox for them? I have them because I just have very strong facial muscles overall but also because I have blue eyes (sensitive to sunlight) and bad vision so I have squinted a lot in my life - it deepened them. Even with Botox they don’t fully go away, but they’re reduced. Anyway if you like them there is literally no reason to inject them.

I’ve been contemplating Botox and I hadn’t thought of this! My smile is like my only attractive feature, so I’m glad you flagged this! I guess I’ll just stick to brows.

Thankfully it’s wearing off as of yesterday (that I noticed). I wonder how long it takes. Definitely a learning curve.

I don't love my 11s. I do love the horizontal lines and have had those forever. I'm wondering if anyone is treating only their 11s and how that turns out. Is there still a risk of droopy eyebrows etc.

Oh ok I misread. You really can’t get droopy eyebrow doing the 11’s. Shots in the 11’s don’t affect those muscles (the ones above the eyebrows that cause drooping if done wrong).

10 units on forehead at $10 a unit. No 11’s but slight line on upper brow. You should always start out slow. Botox or filter do not go away after 6-year but the effects do, your skin will build up tolerance over time. This is why some women have the puffy look.

How does it feel since it’s the first time?

I’m 30 too and thinking of getting Botox for the first time

Sorry, I'm on the west coast so no help there but it was $12 a unit, which seems about average.

No results yet since I just got it done today, but the injections themselves were no big deal tiny pricks and now 10 hours later my forehead just feels a little bit sore/tight and it's still pretty red all over. Really nervous for the results! I hope I don't hate it, or maybe I hope I do so I won't want to keep forking over $400.

Wow! Op, why do you need Botox at such a young age? They injected more in you earlier so you are hooked for life. It is like a drug for your face and will have to continue taking it.

I’ve tried Botox two times and decided I prefer my normal face. It’s not for everyone.

Thank you! That's reassuring.
