So there are 3 sets of quarters, 3 sets of semis, 3 sets of finals. If this team doesn't get enough points to advance to the top tier after seeding, and Bethesda does, then they won't play each other.

If that happens, Bethesda is confirmed as the better team.

Maybe. Or they ended up in the kiddie version of the bracket of death (bracket of ouchies maybe). The organizers try to make sure that teams from the same area are in different brackets so teams play teams they haven't played before, but it must be next to impossible to get even brackets. That said, yeah, based on this tournament whoever ends up in the higher bracket is the better team.

I don't think so. Looking at yesterday's standings, the brackets look pretty even. Time will tell.

The only determination of who is better is head to head and these two teams have already played each other.

Correct only in the eyes of people who don’t think U9s improve or can be developed further - keep up the good work, SYC! This is what we have all come to expect from you. This is precisely why these kids are going to get their heads handed to them in three to four years.

only was saying that was the determination of who was better and not the brackets that they were in since level can vary by opponent. I'm not saying SYC will be better for ever just at this point in time. I do agree with you that they will have to continue developing their players in order to remain on top. Whether they can do it or not, I don't know. Bethesda does have a good track record though.

And, SYC thinks it's okay to have U9 boys out there and not teenage girls because teenage girls need to be sheltered. And, SYC decided to place 4 additional goals in this odd and kind of hidden location.

Since you're with SYC in some capacity, if you're going to defend them, and you're there quite often to see a disturbed man break a tripod camera, please explain the circumstances. Tripod camera? That must've been during a game, unless SYC is now taping training sessions for boys and not girls.

The pickup game thing happens with all the nice soccer fields in Fairfax. I think they actually send scouts to different fields looking for one that's not used. Our league had a crazy guy at Arrowhead this year.
It doesn't sound different than any other public park in Fairfax. Cops don't sit at all the fields, though, that is strange.

I don't even have kids who play for SYC, or for travel, but that is BS. If the boys teams are getting better fields than the girls teams, that's an issue for travel or rec. I would not tolerate that in our rec program.

Yes, it was during a game. Not my kid's game.

There has also been reports of vandalism there. Not SYC families, since we're in and out.

My oldest son practices there and I hate that place, specially in the evenings. Maybe we should trade and have the girls practice there!

The cops usually show up around this time of the year when those groups want to have a beer or two after their pick up games.
