My son tried out with a friend who did not get an offer - they are on the same regular travel team, and his friend seemed like a fine player to me. I'm not sure what happened. The roster is under 20 kids, and we don't have 11 committed to some games, so it doesn't make sense to me at all. I admit it is possible that the situation is colored by me liking the friend personally, but I think he would have made an adequate addition to the team.

Going through life thinking soccer should be free.

Exactly what are you willing to pay for? It is a kids activity, name a kids activity that is free.

I was thinking the same thing. "Bring your checkbook" ... um, yeah, just like during the regular season, there is a fee for Super Y. My off-the-cuff calculation is that it's basically the same weekly rate as the regular season; I wouldn't have signed up for it if it was some obvious money grab.

It's extra touches with a coach and other players, not just your kid and a rebounder in the driveway. It's another take on soccer, be it good/bad/indifferent. It's fitness in grueling heat! Perspective is everything.

Are there any clubs that play super y to win? I mean really stack the team. Or is it more just a summer league for extra soccer?

Yes what club does not try to win in super y? It shows what a strong club you play for.

So don't do it. The coach doesn't like your kid anyway

How many super y teams have scholarship players? I would think not every player on Arlingtons teams is shelling out the big bucks they are charging.

Super Y is not big bucks. I don't know where that comes from.
