We live here and live with it. What the F DO YOU CARE?

Because I don’t want rampant violent crime where I live and I think four year olds getting shot is unacceptable. It’s weird to me that you don’t care. Have some standards for gods sake.

Then don't push guns into the city.

I can’t believe that people haven’t heard about this yet! Where is the outrage? There was a seven-year old girl shot recently too.

Yeah, OP is disgusting to use this tragedy to bash a place they don't even live in. I am glad they are gone, we don't need this kind of losers.

It’s disturbing how much more outrage you guys show about a DCUM post than about a four year old being shot. My god. Get some perspective.

I don't see you giving an F about a 4 year old. You are probably a NRA supporter.

You know, I had been pushing guns into the city prior to this exchange, but, now that you mention it, I promise to stop.

Nope. I don’t own a gun and never have. Maybe instead of making up fictional stories about your fellow posters, you could start actually facing reality. Give it a try!

I'm going to say it again:

Antonin Scalia and the Roberts court did this to DC. They made up an individual right to own guns. They did this to help their donors and gain political advantage in red areas outside DC.

It is disgusting and it is despicable. Without the Roberts court, DC would ban guns, and likely VA and MD gun ownership would also be curtailed, greatly decreasing the supply of handguns in DC.

It is time to ban handguns in America.

What about the 4 year old kid?

If you have kids with you all the more reason not to argue with strangers. People who live in DC shouldn’t believe they are exempt from violence because they are white or own an expensive house in Logan Circle.

+1

I have had to bite my tongue a few times but there is no way I would respond to a hostile person yelling at me at this point. Especially when my DC is with me.

The story of the mother and child being shot in front of their home by a stranger should shake some people up- it's horrifying. They were shot in front of their husband/dad and other sibling, all over a scooter being parked on the block by an obviously really bad guy. It's time to leave DC. Take your tax dollars and join me away from the city. The council, the mayor, no one else will listen or do anything about the problems. Even if they catch the guy who shot this family, good luck seeing actual justice done. It'll be like the Uber Eats driver who was killed, and the perps got, what, a 2-4 years? Vote with your feet!!

I could not be any more horrified at people like you using events like this to push an agenda. I could google and list a ton of disturbing crimes that have happened in Bethesda, Potomac, Falls Church or whatever suburb you fled to. Crime is not unique to a city. You are gross and I am actually glad you left our city.

You're assuming this is not a conservative troll trying to spread dissent about DC and DC living.

Victim blame much?

We don’t even know if the mother “argued.” She could have just asked the guy to move the scooter.

NP. You do you. But I’m horrified that DC has gotten significantly less safe in the past 12 months. A mother and young son were shot in broad daylight in their front yard. An Uber driver died in an armed car jacking. Members of the city council were car jacked in the middle of the day. Enough is enough. You think this happens in the burbs?

+1. An armed robbery happened in broad daylight (11:00 a.m.) last Friday morning in Cleveland Park. Does everyone know about that?!

Yikes. I didn’t know about this. Did it make the news?

Oh, of course not. It barely made the CP list serv.

+1 Why do these people act as if it's normal to live with violent crime and acceptable to tolerate criminal behavipr?

Bowser is the actual worst

+10000

I live in that area with kids. Ive been here 15 years. Under Bowser, crime and general recklessness has gotten worse. We used to see police patrols on bikes and foot. That would help bring crime down. Instead Ill have to keep my tween kids locked up at home.

Are you of the opinion that violent crimes should be kept quiet and not discussed and that only conservative trolls would post about them?

+1. A question for those who excuse or downplay horrific violent crime: Who do you think you’re helping? I honestly don’t understand what their goal is or what they are trying to achieve.
