A lot of people in this area will never feel safe. For context, my family, who work in a hospital, came to visit this past weekend for the first time since March 2020. They are pro mask and helped with vaccine rollout and are getting back to a somewhat normal life. They were FLOORED at the mask wearing outside here in NoVA. They could not believe the number of people leaving their homes walking dogs with masks. In one case we saw a women walking her dog with gloves and a mask. This area is truly an anomaly when you look at the rest of the country and the people suffering the most are our kids.
What frustrates me the most is that with all the goalpost moving, all along was it was "We believe SCIENCE is SCIENCE" and "Trust the science". Now that flip flop Fauci said dont wear masks we no longer trust the science because of irrational fear and anxiety. There were no reported cases in Arlington yesterday. |
I take tacrolimus after having an organ transplant. I'll keep wearing masks in public, but I don't expect others to. |
Did you miss the part where I said my kids are pros at wearing masks at schools and daycare? Also, don’t presume to know what my kids do outside of school or what their mental health needs are, because you have literally no clue. I’m truly sorry you’re struggling as much as you are. To the other PPs who get it - solidarity. I’m hopeful this order will mean outdoor summer camps can forego masks for kids as long as they’re outside, which ours will be. |
The point of masks is not protection of the wearer so much as protection of everyone else. That’s why surgeons wear them. Vaccinated people have nothing to fear from unvaccinated people spreading disease. But my kid is unvaccinated because I cannot get it one and therefore the best way to keep it safe is to stay away from indoor areas where COVID could spread. |
I can't tell if that pp is a troll or has a psychological disorder. But I'm sure it's the same person that's been posting for the last year that anyone that values education actually just hates their kids. |
Yup. Or get them a N95 respirator if you can find one small enough to fit a child’s face with a seal. |
| The only question I have is whether vaccinated CDC employees are now required to be back in their offices working indoors full-time unmasked and if not, why not. |
Me too, and raising my glass of rose to you. |
oh shut up. At this point, we know that pretty much no one needs to be in their office to do most jobs. I don't care what CDC employees are doing. I know plenty of people at NIH that have been going in to the office daily and they all seem a bit lighter on their feet and more relaxed. That is enough for me. Some people will never be happy. |
+1. Chardonnay. |
Does this mean Council itself will go back to work maskless instead of doing all the remote hearings? |
I am. I'm vaccinated. Husband too. Just took my kid for their first shot. I can't wait to not wear a mask. That doesn't mean I will go against any business' requirement to maintain masks, etc. Just that I cannot wait. I am so tired of them. But I know that they will disappear in fits and spurts and not everyone has the same comfort level. |
I think it is important to know and understand if the CDC is following its own guidance and if not, why not. |

I love wearing a mask: it protects me from pollens and dust that trigger my allergies; I don’t need to put a makeup on my face (I saved a lot of money on cosmetics last year); I can pretend not to recognize people I rather avoid (busybody acquaintances); etc., etc. I will keep wearing a mask as long as I want. Hope people will mind their own business.

Same- especially as it is about to get HOT. |
