for others it's because they're dating a coach |
Any 09 academy boys getting moved to a lower team? |
There are a lot of teams/clubs in the area. If your kid is not getting playing time they are on the bubble. If your kid’s skill set or style of play is different vs the other kids it time to look for a better fit. The thing is if a kid does not fit the style of play or coach does not know what to do with them, players do not develop. The coach really only concentrates on his/her top 5-6 players. These players start, coach favors them, their confidence grows, they take risks and develop. The other players on the team are the scout squad(and after thought) for the top players and they know it. Most places keep a coach for two years. That’s a lot of time to sit and hope a new coach will see your potential. |
1-7 this spring, why change anything? |
Cheap shot. They are a good team and good kids and are playing tough competition (not CCL). They are not playing the way they were taught U9-11 (they finally have good coaching) so you would expect this adjustment and saw the same with 08s. |
I agree, I am at another club that has played them on different occasions over the last 3 years and the tactics have certainly changed dramtically. |
| what clubs are the new ECNL players from outside Arlington coming from? |
I've heard McLean. But that doesn't make sense since they already have ECNL. |
For 09 boys? |
| The McLean teams are changing radically with the SYC merger, so would not be surprised if some displaced players are moving clubs... |
It does make sense if they live/have friends in Arlington. |
The SYC alliance was a factor, but even in pre-ECNL age groups, McLean still has some kids without offers and many of the kids that got offers are pushed down to lower teams. Also, rosters are getting bigger while last year they struggled to have sufficient numbers for some of the teams due to no tryouts as a result of pandemic. My DS's team has a couple of players without offers and they told my DS that they were at Arlington tryouts and a couple of players with offers were also there. |
The shift to ECNL in Arlington is for the girls. |
ECNL is not about playing with your friend. |
| A lot of cuts at Mclean has boys scrambling for other clubs thanks to SYC partnership. Ive seen quite a few trying out at Arlington not sure they will be offered a spot. |
