THIS. I am soooo convinced of this now that DC is u19 and at the twilight of the youth soccer experience. We can't go a year without drama and BS. We've now seen this play out in three states since u11 travel and even back to u6 rec.

Just found out DC's team who earned promotion to EDP National League Premier 1 is being put down to local EDP! Zero explanation from the club thus far (asked and no answer yet). Not a good look for kids trying to finish out their u19 year and land a college offer. Certain showcases we went to last year as a National League Premier 2 team will be inaccessible as a local EDP squad... We re-signed with the club due to the good vibes of last season, earning promotion through good performance in the National League Premier 2, good coaching, etc.

Which club is this? Also-what tournaments does the Premier 1 league usually have access to and do colleges actually pay attention similar to ECNL teams? Our DC wants to play high academic D3 and we are concerned about lack of exposure if not in ECNL.

You're just proving my point. Too many "top" (ECNL, GA) teams in the area. Consolidating back into 2 or maybe 3 per age group makes them competitive nationally.....

Club v Club leagues are really the only way you can manage a national or even a regional league without driving up costs. If you're content with a local league like NCSL, then the individual team model works. I guess that is why every player is clamoring to play in NCSL.

Clubs and players who make top leagues without relegation don’t like the idea of relegation - I’m shocked, utterly shocked.

Last year It was a higher placement in Jeff Cup (5 different college coaches watched some of our games) plus Greensboro National Showcase. Not seeing how a local league team participates in a National League showcase... And if they did, you're probably talking bottom bracket at said showcases. Looking at the slate of local teams, ours is the ONLY one with a history in got soccer (I am not referring to the dubious rankings, just the mere existence of a team in there) that tells me the rest of the local league is brand new throw together u19 teams looking for a place for their leftover kids... that's awesome, but not commensurate with a team that just earned promotion in the spring.

Richmond was never GDA/GA. Always ECNL.
First year of GDA, Arlington, VDA, FCV, and Metro (then Spirit) were in GDA. ECNL quickly grabbed BRYC.
Second year of GDA, VDA switched to ECNL and I think Loudoun did too? (Loudoun had been neither GDA nor ECNL previously).
Third year of GDA, Spirit dropped its youth program and became Metro, COVID happened, US Soccer dropped all DA (girls and boys), GDA clubs scrambled to form GA.
Fourth year of GA, ECNL picked up Arlington and GA picked up Skyline.
