Differences are larger than a fraction of a point - in many cases greater than 2. But even then - that's not as good as actually watching the teams play and I have - at least at my DS' age group. And there is no comparison.

There is no top NC or SC ECNL team that is more than a point higher than the top MD ECNL team. For me, its not worth it having my kid miss a day of school and travel 8+ hours to play a team that might be a fraction of a point better than he can play an hour or two away if that means he also misses school and travels 8+ hours to also play crappy teams. Since neither of us gets to decide, looks like there is no point in arguing further and we will have to agree to disagree.

Just looked at U16 group. Six teams from VA, NC, SC ranked from 40.13 to 41.25. Pipeline is the first MD team at 40.09. Then a bunch more NC/SC teams - including many second teams - before you get to Maryland United at 39.09. And then all the way down to Baltimore Celtic at 37.2 which is bascially worse than most of the current league's second teams.


Sure adding MD is fine if you're Mclean or BRYC. It's not fine if you're Arlington, Richmond or VDA.
