To play other teams outside your state. |
| OP here. I beat my wife. |
Purpose of making you believe your money is well "invested" What a joke! |
to show how weak McLean really is, which is why they are begging clubs to send kids their way. |
|
For us, it is not a question of investment etc. We have been blessed with good jobs and good health, so sports augment what we want our kids to take with them through life. We don't see sports as an end in and of itself but as an integral part of becoming a complete and good person.
We ( I am OP) no longer think those values are there for the taking with McLean. We have been complicit in supporting the club even when we were wary of what was going on, but this is the breaking point. In our estimation, organizations which take money from parents for their children need to be transparent and honest. The favoritism we saw before (our child was a not losing playing time but it was obvious what was going on) was a concern, but this broke the camel's back. You don't make a sweepin announcement like this in the middle of a season and have people worrying about having their child displaced, their coach displaced etc. It is a bad organization. Again this is just our perspective and yes there were sour grapes, but we will just try something else. Best of luck to those who stay. My older kids had a good experience e with McLean, but that was then, this is now |
To gage how you stack up against national competition. To play someone new instead of the same old local/league teams. To have fun traveling. To see someplace new. Etc. |
This isn’t college basketball. National championships? Who the heck knows or cares or thinks that matters when teams routinely scalp your boys? Does anybody think the uniform or crest means anything to anybody except the people who won the championships? This is the essence of resting on laurels and the reason you guys were desperate to grab anybody, including a partner who could not be more different. |
| To the OP. So, where will your kids play? Where do you think the grass is greener? Be careful of the devil you don’t know ... |
The OP will have their AuPair drive the kids wherever the need to go not to have to play with "THOSE" type of kids. |
OP I understand your perspective and as someone who lived through other club drama, I get it. However, you state you don’t want this announced mid season. When would you like the club to make these announcements? In May/June after other club tryouts are done? After MYS families already pay for next year? Now is when all the clubs are making plans for next year. They have to announce coaching skates, let those coaches hold tryouts and select players. Then players register knowing their coach, league, and teammates for the upcoming year. It’s tryout season and this type of stuff always drops in April/May. It’s uncomfortable those last couple of games of the spring season for sure |
Great point. At another club we went through a coaching change after tryouts completed and deposits were made. Caused a lot of animosity with families because that’s not what we signed up for. Give them a little credit for getting it out there while families still have time to evaluate options. |
Or you pay your fees and mid season your coach is fired and parents are forced too, 1. stay with a new coach that is not as good or 2. lose their fees and hope to get picked up by another team. Top players leave, new players come in, coach does not get the team he hopes for and moves on. That causes animosity. That might have happened at a club that McLean just started an alliance with. |
Your ECNL child should always worry about being "displaced". Every year new kids come in and try out and current players are at risk of being moved down/out. Nobody's position is guaranteed. Including the coach. This announcement IS transparency -- they are making it MORE clear that players are coming and trying out. And doing it at a time where if you don't like it, you can still take DC to other clubs for ID sessions/tryouts. Sounds like you simply don't like that DC isn't guaranteed an ECNL spot for life. |
Well McLean has not announced coaches for the year so they seem to be trying to get everyone on board thinking they will get one of the few "good" ones |
|
While i don't think you’ll find any difference at other ecnl/gal level team/clubs, a change of view could be beneficial. I couldn’t resist though
