The original poster’s rationale is a little hard to follow. McLean girls team seem to do well and their crest has a bunch of stars over it for what I think are national championships. Coaches have left McLean over the years just like every other club. This SYC alliance should make the club stronger on both boys and girls side if managed well. That is always a big if, but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that they know what they are doing.

How does this work? Do you McLean coaches call each other whenever their is a negative post, or are there dedicated coaches who are supposed to respond.
This merger was an act of desperation and it demonstrates the ineptitude in getting players ready for the next level from the younger age groups. You can spin it all you want, but this was a dumb move for McLean especially since you hosed Great Falls.

Parent, not a McLean coaching the response. Your “act of desperation” comment sounds like the spin.

Oh sure. Every time a McLean post comes up this happens. Very obvious

It’s not irrational, it’s made up. Which is why it sounds irrational

Whatever. Keep the thread going

The stupid arrangement will result on cannibalization of the club. It will lose players that are not given the opportunity to the ECNL because the spots are given to other kids.

Look at the older teams—they’re mostly not MYS products. This will give your DS a better training environment

Remember a time when mclean was just a local town Club, and kids got to play on teams with their friends/classmates. A shame what it has turned into for the few who line their pockets with parents hard earned cash.

It’s everywhere.

This could be anyone of the clubs my 3 kids have played for over the past decade.

This is not unique to McLean. This scenario is playing out at Clubs all around the DMV.

I agree with OP. There is a total lack of transparency. I think it is because even they don't know what is going to happen. Last night the 2006 boys had an ID session and NOT A SINGLE SYC player came. Aren't they the #1 team? Supposed to save McLean boys program? Meanwhile a million SYC girls are showing up from first, second, third teams trying to get spots. They need to put out the coaching slate, discuss maximum roster sizes for each age and tell parents when these decisions will be made.

This, particularly at the "top" level. Your "town" teams are at the 2nd and 3rd teams (and HS).

The McLean is OK, but have you had a McRib recently? Super tasty.
