What have you been doing since getting vaccinated?

I find this pretty incredible to believe too, PP. I was back at the salon the day it reopened last June and haven't missed an appointment since. Same with manicures/ pedicures. I cannot imagine giving up basic grooming for an entire year.

It was easy, and what you consider basic grooming is what most of the country doesn’t care about or have the money to do. You are in a bubble.

My last hair appointment was in February. My hair is not worth risking my well-being or the well-being, health, and safety of people I love.

I just started cutting my own. I am now vaccinated but not in a hurry to go back to the salon.

I’ve cut my own twice... long and layered. Actually I like my haircuts better than some of the salon ones 🤷‍♀️

I cut my own in November. It wasn’t great, but not like I’m going anywhere (ok, the grocery), and I can keep it back for work calls. It was too long and I was waking up because of it, even braided. I’ve had one shot, once I get the second I’m going it cut, the longest part is down to very top of my butt and I am about to shave my head from annoyance. One more month.

Manicures are not basic grooming. Unless you are Elle Woods.

I grant you that. Still, I can’t believe some of you have not been to a salon, or a dentist, or a doctor- or a million other places- in a year! What the heck have you been doing with your time?

?
How much time do you spend doing these things?
Some of us work demanding jobs and have plenty of other things to do besides making hair appointments. Don't know what else to tell you.

Everything I did before the vaccine.

We started some outdoor dining, and saw my parents.

A doctor and dentist is different than a haircut. I haven’t been to the doctor because I haven’t needed to go. My doc was ok with delaying my physical as I have no underlying issues. If I had any need to go I would. I have been to the dentist for a cleaning and also for a crown replacement.

In most cases, a haircut at a salon is wholly different thing. You can trim your hair at home.

Nothing different except seeing friends more. I already got my hair done and shopped for avocados (what the heck, OP? Lol!)

Literally everyone I know hasn't stepped foot in a salon since last summer because we all knew it would be a tragic year. Right on that front. Also too busy juggling work and childcare.

I also don't consider manicures and pedicures basic grooming.

OP here. Haven't had any childcare, which has been very hard, haven't been inside a building except a few truly necessary appointments, since March 9th 2020, until I got vaccinated. Now have been to a few places.

Obviously most of the country thinks I'm crazy but we are high risk due to immune issues and I prefer to have my family alive than shop for avocados in person. I also felt responsible to or be a vector of transmission and I'm shocked at how people have behaved. I also know many people who have had severe Covid (over a dozen) and a few young people with long Covid. One colleague got it during an outdoor mothers day brunch in 2020and was on a vent but thankfully survived (despite this i think outdoor transmission risk is low). I hate manicures and hair salons so that one has been mentally easy to avoid. I miss concerts, theaters, dining with friends, etc.

The above is for the usual "let's pile up on the OP crowd."

I was hoping for this to be a fun thread looking to a brighter future when we can all go back to having normal lives.

I look forward most to traveling again and staying in hotels.

I get my 2nd shot in 2 weeks so I’m about a month I want to go to the dentist and get my hair cut.
