APS - School Shifts in the Fall?

As opposed to Miranda who has no actual plan other than demands for full time. Notice Miranda doesn't explain how to actually accomplish that.

Vaccines for teachers - check; ventilation upgraded - check; spacing relaxed - check; more kids on bus - check; open school doors and let kids come back. APS has done the hard work to reopen, it is time to get back to school. Elementary must go back 5 FULL days a week. I may not have agreed w Miranda on everything (ie going back to school during the surges) but Boy do I not agree with a plan B that is school on shifts.

so ridiculous - masks work.. we need to stop with the distancing rules. Masks/hand washing are effective. Otherwise, we'll need to wait for COVID to disappear before the kids return FT. Enough already.. for those that are high risk, or extremely risk averse, remaining remote is an option!!!

She said this COULD BE be an option IF we still have the 3’ requirement and we can’t fit all of the kids.

Stop taking it out of context.

At least she’s thinking about it...

Just the fact that she is even thinking this could be an option for the fall should disqualify her.

That makes no sense. She shares the same goal as everyone else, which is to get kids back in the classroom full time in the fall. She is trying to think through and unblock potential obstacles NOW so that it will actually happen. I think it will happen in any event, even if the CDC still has a distancing requirement, because SB 1303 only requires schools to follow CDC to the extent possible. So, while I think her planning on this point might be moot, at least she is offering solutions instead of Miranda's tactic of just decrying a problem without offering any solutions.

DP. The problem is that what Kadera put out there is a highly flawed proposal that she hadn’t put enough time or effort into developing. But she apparently thought taking some pretty pictures was good enough and then threw it out there as a serious solution, when it clearly is not if you put any kind of effort into analyzing it. If that is the level of critical thinking she would bring to the school board, she does not belong there.

Agree - it will be a nonissue for the fall, but I appreciate that she's thinking through solutions and not just complaining. We have plenty of parents who already do that. Don't need to take up a SB seat for that.

Maybe you don't care for her proposal, but at least she's thinking. How has MT demonstrated any thinking at all?

Turner has been actively engaged on school reopening issues for a year now. Kadera seemingly just realized this was an issue voters care about, and now it scrambling to catch up in a way that makes clear she really hasn’t been thinking about these issues.

Yes, Turner has been actively engaged by putting up signs and holding rallies. But what concrete ideas has she put forward, either through her group or as a candidate, to actually get APS there?

MT would be pushing for 5 days back to school even if we had no vaccines and community spread were rampant. She has poor judgment and is a one-issue candidate. No way could she handle the workload of a full SB docket.

How about you do the reading for yourself? You can start with the APE website, or her campaign website. You could also go to one of her outdoor candidate coffees, or sign up for her virtual open office hours to speak with her directly about her ideas. She has made herself directly accessible to voters, which I think is refreshing.

Thanks. I have read her website and also read her group's various posts for the last year. My question was a rhetorical one, as I know all I need to know about her candidacy. Next.
