I went to a super progressive high school. We would have a full day retreat with seminars and lectures on MLK Day about these topics. I remember one was called "The Unbearable Whiteness of Barbie." But modern politics never came up in actual classes like English, even with the most liberal teachers. The closest was when we discussed lynching in American history.

Yes it is. You need to go read. Race is a social construct. Beneath the first layer of the epidermis which has the pigment, we are genetically the same to like 99.5%.

What PP is referring to is the fact that while there are certain probabilistic features associated with different races, there is more genetic variation within races than between them. This means that at the margins it's not scientifically possible to tell where one race ends and another begins, because the categories themselves were culturally and historically determined.
