It's English class. The teacher is the head of the English department and Freedom High school. This is why kids graduate and can't write a proper 5 paragraph essay.

Good. Let’s get his @ss fired. I’m an LCPS teacher against this leftist indoctrination.

Proud of the student and his parents. So much for “Freedom” HS. Lmfao

Any LCPS teacher who uses the word “leftist” unironically should be fired and publicly shamed. Who are you?

Why?

Retired teacher here. I was glad to see it.
Not all teachers vote the same way.

On second thought, maybe pp should have said "Marxist" instead of "leftist."
But, lately, it's been hard to tell the difference.

And it wouldn’t have been incorrect.

I see all my white teenager students posting on their IG’s (chill, no stalking - it’s part of a coach’s job to monitor social media interactions of players) posting about BLM and pro trans stuff... sure, they’re not being indoctrinated. They’re just regurgitating agendas and ideologies that are aberrations but carry on. The bad guy is the teacher - like always.

Wow. This thread served as a good reminder as to why I never want to step foot in your county. The racist is through the roof. Yikes!

What the hell does any of this have to do with English class??? I was expecting the answer to be social studies or FLE.

I went to a super progressive high school. We would have a full day retreat with seminars and lectures on MLK Day about these topics. I remember one was called "The Unbearable Whiteness of Barbie." But modern politics never came up in actual classes like English, even with the most liberal teachers. The closest was when we discussed lynching in American history.

Education changes with time. Other breaking news at 10 and 11.

In other words, education degrades with time.

This is a 1 minute clip of a teacher . One minute. We have no idea what kind of teacher he is. If you think education is degraded, home school.

NP. Nonsense like this is why I am going to homeschool. That and the huge class sizes, overcrowding, lacking curriculum, etc.

Enjoy. I’m sure you’ll do amazing at it.

Same reason you have piled on the teacher that is featured in this YouTube video. You are offensive and have no business interacting with impressionable kids.

That doesn’t make any sense. What does Marxism have to do with anything?

Race, gender, and other issues are discussed in higher level classes

What the heck kind of English class is this?

Kids only get few actual instruction hours a week and THIS is what they’re teaching?

Repeat your first line. And why are you confused, exactly because you have no context for what’s happening or what’s being taught or how it is connected to the curriculum. If this is a 12 English class, it makes sense because in 12 you approach texts through a series of critical lenses, one of which is race. That could be what’s happening here but we don’t know because someone posted it absent any other information or context because they have an agenda. That’s why you’re confused.

Exactly. There was very little context about the lesson, purpose, etc. Lots of postings with very little context.

Ignoring race is problematic as well.

This thread is quite literally full of idiots. The contingency of LCPS parents that posts on this board all seem to be of the vein of neo-conservatives who have boiled down anything regarding race at all to “CRT” and use this forum as their own personal sounding board of QAnonish conspiracy theories and delusions of persecution. They say things like “wokeness” in all seriousness and believe they’re targeted and persecuted in some way by “liberalism.”

There was no right answer to the teacher's question. He was going to jump down the student's throat no matter what he said. He just refused to play this silly game (or at least, he refused to give the teacher the 'win condition' he was seeking).

the teacher was clearly setting up a discussion about how race is culturally determined, not a “gotcha.” You’re majorly projecting if you object to saying “there’s a white woman and a black woman.” The student was being purposefully challenging, and from the tone, sounds like he had a pattern of that.

We need to stop trying to judge the teacher OR the student from this clip. Seriously. There is not enough information to know what the purpose of the lesson was, how it fit with the unit or curriculum, dynamic between teacher and student, etc.
