Chrissy Teigen really loves attention

Chrissy was 25 when she wrote those texts? And if that person receiving those texts actually killed themselves it would be brought to trial -- isn't there a young woman who is serving jailtime for encouraging her boyfriend to kill himself (who ultimately did kill himself)?

HOW is this not a big deal.

Chrissy was clearly an adult when she wrote those texts. Mean, awful human being. Her PR must be killing unfavorable stories.

You’re thinking of Conrad Roy and Michelle Carter (she did serve time BTW). I think the difference is that Michelle had a personal relationship with her victim and was aware when Conrad was undergoing the act and she didn’t call 911 or anyone for help. If you’re throwing everyone in jail for telling a stranger on the internet to kill themselves, then that’s a slippery slope. I do agree with you that it was a disgusting thing for Chrissy to do, but I’m not cancelling her over it.

Seriously?

No, The Onion called her that. Chrissy called her cocky. Not sure why she felt the need to diss a little kid, but at least she didn’t use that word.

If I called a little kid cocky, it would probably be a compliment, LOL

I have always said she was fake and insincere.

Actors and actresses are personas - their entire job is being fake and insincere. Once you realize that, you can start channeling your outrage towards things that actually matter.

She is a rude, calculating bully and the thirstiest person in Hollywood, not in the good way. Despise her.

+1. They ALL want attention. Even the ones you think are "nice" or genuine.

I'm not sure that we in the pop culture section of DCUM have the moral authority to indict Chrissy. But I think it's been obvious for a long time that she isn't like, a feminist icon. She is a basic mean girl who is kind of funny but often crosses lines of decency. I mean, she said she saw a baby that looked trashy and like a porn star. Without getting all weird and Qanon, and just taking the comment at face value, it is extremely mean spirited and weird.

Isn’t it interesting how cancel culture works? Some people lose everything while others get a free pass.

I don't think you can ignore the slut-shaming aspect to this. This was 10 years ago, before #MeToo, etc. and Teigen wasn't the only one. It doesn't excuse it, but let's be honest here. I think if Chrissy Teigen was currently a brand ambassador or associated with something other than herself, you'd see calls for her to be ousted. You can't really oust someone from their insular life with their husband and kids.

This really does sum her (and us) up nicely in my opinion.

You might need to brush up on your reading comprehension skills if you get "outrage" from the post you're responding to.

I think going into someone’s DMs and telling them to kill themselves, especially as a public person, is way beyond a moderated and anonymous mommy/daddy sort of niche message board.

Ok, fair point. I can be a complete ass but I wouldn't ever do that.

She’s only sorry the story got too big this time for her to ignore...there was nothing stopping Chrissy from apologizing all the other times Courtney brought it up.

I'm the first quote. I'm not outraged at all, and you are right, they are all fake. CT is just a little more vocal and so a little more hypocritical than others. Didn't she just quit twitter or facebook because people were mean to her?

This. I used to really like Teigen but the disclosure of her DMs to Stodden were so disturbing that I’m totally turned off. She encouraged a young person to lull themselves - what in the actual fu!k?!? Sure, my twenties weren’t my moral high ground and I did (and still do) things I regret. But encouraging a stranger, someone who clearly could have used support and kindness, to lull themselves is just beyond the point of acceptable. It’s disgusting. And the disclosure from Stodden that Teigen never reached out directly to her despite claiming she did, is icing on the cake.
