| Residents of ward 8 aren't getting vaccinated because they are refusing to get vaccinated. Even the dumb dumbs at the Washington Post covered this. |
| I'm no fan of Trayon White, but the pandemic has been going on for over a year and don't begrudge anyone a vacation at some point. |

DC is still hugely behind on its goal to have 70 percent of all seniors vaccinated by March 1. We're probably not meeting that on April 1, either.
But I guess being better than Alabama is a good thing. https://twitter.com/stalebread14/status/1376524438615814153?s=19 |

DC had its highest number of positive coronavirus tests since Feb. 6 on Saturday. Great time to travel halfway around the world.

1) Travel is irresponsible in a pandemic.
2) Reminder that Trayon White thinks I control the weather, and this nut job continues to be in a position of some power over my family. It's not directly related to the issue at hand, but I don't see how people can deal with him seriously after this... opinion emerged publicly. So crackpot who is not suitable for leadership does something stupid and selfish. Of course he does. That's what you get when you elect crackpots. |
| I begrudge all leaders who travel during this pandemic. Sure, you got first in line for a vaccine. But don't go throwing it into my face on Instagram while I sit at home with my kids NOT IN SCHOOL FOR A FULL YEAR. Asshole. |
Let's also remember that Brianne Nadeau happily took the opportunity to be vaccinated early as a perk of her position but just as happily sent her own constituents to the end of the line in this city. What leaders do in their personal lives does matter. |
Vaccines aside, I will never forgive her for keeping restaurants and businesses open while not pushing to force schools/libraries/rec centers closed. For. A. Year. DC has too many at risk kids to mess around like that. My husband's downtown restaurant job routinely flaunted Covid regulations and did not care, because they made more money serving over capacity than they lost the couple times they got caught and had to pay a fine. Bowser is also a regular there, FWIW. Yes, we all caught Covid through my husband's job, and my SN child in K continues to suffer from no school. |

It's utterly baffling that the 20009 zip code was not just added to the list of priority zip codes when it has thousands of low-income residents. DC added 20010 tonight but not 20009, for completely unknown reasons. Dismal leadership on Nadeau's part. But at least she has the time to tax soda. |
|
Prioritizing by zip codes also allows for a whole lot of wealthy people to jump to the front of the line. Adding 20010 adds Mount Pleasant to the list of prioritized neighborhoods even though its residents are well ahead of the city's vaccination average. This will make equity worse. Prioritize by neighborhood not zip code. |
|
They need to go door to door in the lowest income neighborhoods. The Pfizer vaccines need to be very cold but not the Moderna. Get a freaking van and drive around giving people shots. Don't make them make appointments - it doesn't work.
Thank god we have a pandemic and not a war. We'd be overrun in a heartbeat by any country with decent leadership and a bit of motivation. |
Citizens who are eligible for the vaccine who follow the procedures for making appointments are not "jumping" or "taking away" or "swarming" or doing anything inappropriate, even if they don't fit the demographics you or the city council or the mayor have in mind. This is not a vaccine strictly for poor people, it is for all the people and provided by the federal government. DC is hijacking doses intended for all of us and redefining them as a resource intended almost exclusively for disadvantaged communities, and then using peer pressure and shame to make this seem legitimate. |
