Ridiculous. How is this OK????? Our kids are not being prioritized here!! I'm so concerned that he will find a reason to not return to 5 days in the fall. The next few months were the perfect opportunity to work out kinks with having more kids in class at least 4 days. Now we'll have to risk trusting them to figure this out for the fall ?? |
Have you read the email? It said 9 days in-person and 9 days virtual. utter garbage. |
What can be done about this? I am furious. Is anyone advocating? Are any of these idiots running for reelection? Any recalls? |
That was BEFORE the 3 ft announcement. Have you read the school board slides? As of today it's all in person for those that want/qualify. |
Enough with comparing to the tiny FCC district. Its not a fair comparison. |
Ok. MoCo. 4 days a week for K-2. |

That’s correct. There will be an all virtual option or 5 days/week in person model. |
Sure they have less buildings but we have more staff, more principals, more admin, more teachers, who can all be working on this. And is the entire damn state of Florida smaller than us? How about 50% of other districts who are open 5 days a week in this country? Are we bigger than all of them or have some sort of special insurmountable issue that none of them did? We are one of the smaller districts and we still can't get it together. We are one of the most funded districts and we still can't get it together. This is a lack of will, period. |
Well that’s an improvement at least. Any idea on eligibility? Thanks. |
Only one seat is open this year bc the chair isn't running for re-election. There are two candidates right now, Mary Kadera and Miranda Turner. One who mentions nothing on her website or social media about arguably the largest issue facing APS now and for the next several years - opening the damn schools and then dealing with all the kids we left behind the past year and a half. And the other seems to be very pro opening. I know who I'll be voting for in the caucus. ArlNow just had quotes from both of them this week. Also those blue and orange signs are looking very appealing right now. I hope they go back up all over town. |
This. 1000% |
No it’s not. They’re far more competent and thinking about the kids first. |

APS also has tons of resources. Tell us what is needed for tents so we can have school 5 days a week with distanced outdoor lunch on rainy days and they will be funded. The PTAs at the rich schools will cover them. Set up a GoFundMe for any school that can't cover it. I bet they'll be fully funded in two days. Plus there are federal funds. This isn't that hard. Elementary schools should be back 5 days a week after spring break. Seriously. |
