This is a dumb comment. If EPL is the best league how is it they’ve done so poorly in the champions league (something like only 2 wins in the past 10 years)? Maybe only in youth soccer do regional tournaments/showcases matter? Serious question, when Messi washes out of La Liga and goes to man city, does that mean la Liga becomes the best?

The most recent 'all-nation' final was Liverpool/Tottenham. La Liga is the one that is struggling to put forward competitive teams right now in UCL. Prem, Bundesliga, Serie A are right now the strongest leagues.

Tottenham just got knocked out of Europa league by a Croatian team.
Liverpool is like 7 or 8 in EPL right now.

Spain has dominated both Champions League and Europa League in the last 10-15 years. This is factual evidence and indisputable. Maybe you’re a Brit that can’t handle the facts but we know Brits get when their feelings are tampered.

That is one big advantage to the Jeff cup. For some reason at the ECNL showcase- they results factor into seeding for the year end matches. this is not helpful to having the focus be on showcasing all the players. The jeff cup is freestanding event so the results dnt affect anything and in theory- every player should be able to showcase sine the outcome of the game is meaningless.

These are likely U14 parents spouting off as if showcase results matter. The only thing that matters in a showcase is whether or not your kid was on the field and played well when the coaches were present.

These parents don't understand that when your kid goes to college she won't be taking her club record with her. It is almost laughable if it wasn't so embarrassing.

Not the pp - but I don't think his comment was dumb at all. He accurately described the EPL - and he specifically made note of Barcelona and Real Madrid as exceptions. But they are the exceptions that prove the rule. His point is that the EPL is the best league top to bottom in Europe - not that other leagues don't have any great teams. They do - especially La Liga - but Bayern Munich and PSG are great teams too - just as good as, perhaps better than, the top English clubs. But those leagues don't have the quality in depth that the EPL possesses. Even the top of the Chamiosnhip features some very good teams, but look at the bottom of La Liga: who has ever heard of Osasuna, Getafe, Cádiz, Real Valladolid, ElcheElche, Eibar, Alavés or Huesca?

Wow, it's like some of you can't understand 2+2. I think the purpose of the first post was to eliminate the debate using statistics. I just can't understand how anyone can't understand the point but rather just makes excuses or complains.

ECNL outperformed GA by leaps and bounds at Jeff Cup. At this point GA should call it a day and just go to USYS/State Cup. It would benefit everyone involved IMO if "leagues" don't matter.

Honestly all these leagues would be better and better serve the players if they were more regionalized and localized. "National" leagues for youth sports are just plain stupid. But they are all businesses designed to serve clubs and league before they serve any the players - from ECNL on down.

Pssst, a little secret for you, these are actually "regional leagues". The only "National" component comes with the National showcases.

You’ll the same ones the post about it on social media and use it as propaganda to recruit players. Same parents that look for these results when evaluating clubs. Yeah, it doesn’t matter when you get embarrassed. Always some built in excuse. But if you win....spam all major outlets.

You know what else’s doesn’t matter? NTC for 12 year olds.....but parents are stabbing each other for their kid to get invited just to say they’ve been invited....knowing damn well it doesn’t go any further.
