That is based on the statement from his representatives who said he died Friday from a "long illness."

No, he initiated it by destroying her on air with out her knowledge

I feel a little silly how sad I am about this given I didn’t know Kane personally! I listened to the show since it came on the air, when I was in middle school (although at first I was upset over the Hot Morning Mess being cancelled). I remember when his kids were born and liked following his and the co-hosts’ lives over the years. Of course as I got older I realized many of the ‘bits’ were fake, but Roses, the ‘Kane Scams’ etc. still made me laugh while I drove to work in the morning. A couple of years ago I actually called in to the show for the ‘What’s Good Wednesday’ segment (I had just bought a house) and we talked about how crazy it was that I’d been listening since I was a preteen and was now an adult homeowner! I hope he rests in peace, I am just so heartbroken for his daughters.

His lawyer on NBC 4 described the cause of death as acute respiratory distress syndrome.

NBC/ Pat Collins just showed an interview with his attorney and said he had been in the hospital about ten days before he died, from acute respiratory distress. Not covid related. No drugs involved, and his father was present at the hospital.

What longtime illness would cause acute respiratory distress? Ugh, terribly sad.

According to limited Googling, ARDS is usually caused by sepsis/infection. "Most people who get ARDS are already at the hospital for trauma or illness."

I wonder if he was already in the hospital for the "longtime illness," and then developed ARDS?

Yes, the ARDS would be secondary to something else that was going on

+1. Sounds like he developed ARDS as a complication of some other issue/longer term illness.

10 days does not constitute a "long illness," so either his attorneys used misleading terminology or there was an underlying condition for which he was hospitalized. I feel awful for his parents to have watched his career and family skyrocket, then end so messily.
