You want them to read other things? Give them to them. Read them too and discuss them. I don't get the learned helplessness of so many parents here. One woman (you could practically hear the melodramatic tears in her typing) a while back said they need to open school buildings because her kids (oh, the horror!) ARE WATCHING TV WHEN THEY SHOULDN'T BE? Oh, if only there were solutions for these earth-shaking first world problems? Pathetic. |
| uniformly negative, really? You don't know any kids who are doing just fine? |
| My teens are doing fine. They chose to remain virtual for the final quarter when they could have chosen hybrid. |
Girl, bye. |
| Depends on the kid. Many have a positive impact as they don’t have to deal with any school bullies or students that act up and consume all of the teachers time because you can’t just ignore a kid that’s throwing sh*t or yelling or screaming. Online we can hit mute or kick students off and let the adult watching them deal with that fun. |

Your DH has only left your house ten times in a year?
You and he both need serious therapy. |
+1 |
| Who cares? Democrats certainly don’t, but they’ve been stoking the fires of fear the past four years. I’m surprised anyone who bought into it made it this far without hurting themselves. |
| Zoom alone? Not a problem for MH. Zoom for a full school day in the midst of a pandemic, when you have had family members die of COVId and your dad is on the frontline? And you see your friends' family members galavanting around like it's 2019?Yeah, it's going to be a MH impact, but can't be solely atributed to zoom |
My DC is borderline ADHD, no official diagnosis yet, as he is too young for meds anyhow. He has the energy of a race horse. I can guarantee you wouldn’t have this same attitude if your child had a learning disability or was beyond hyperactive. |
Haha...my child is literally bouncing off the walls. He is an animal, a very bright animal, but he wasn’t built for sedentary activities. In person school was much more interactive and engaging, it wasn’t perfect, but he was fine. This is an entirely different situation, he cries every day, is not focused at all. Somehow getting good grades....He is bored to tears though. |
I find the opposite to be true. My DC is bored with Zoom, it’s not stimulating not challenging not healthy. Kids need and crave direct in person conversation and relationships. |
This is the exact phrase I was looking for when I was posting in another thread. It's quite pathetic, especially coming from people who claim they are so smart, went to an ivy and make six figure incomes at super important jobs. And it's literally every ranting post. And most of those rants, whining, issues, or problems can be solved with just 10 seconds of using their brains for problem-solving versus complaining. |
When have kids ever mattered? You have lived a charmed life if think this as an adult. |
+1. Another reason why more men are needed in the profession. |
