Where are these from?

They look like top-down roman shades?

I have something like this and I love them.

Good to know! I can't figure out what makes them "bad" necessarily. If they're down, they look like other shades. If they're up, they look like other shades. But if you need them to be at the bottom or the middle (for privacy or the sun), you have that option. I can see why cafe curtains or shutters are less appealing, since they are just kind of stuck on the bottom half.

+1

Or explain the window layout? Are they 8 separate windows? Any that are grouped together? Any French doors or anything like that?

This is OP. I dont know how to post pics.... but here is the layout...

1) Its a family room. One wall has shiplap and tv in the middle. This is the wall that the sectional couch faces. There is a window on each side of the tv.

2) The largest wall of the room has three windows that are all touching each other, like attached, but could be individual window treatments. This wall looks out onto backyard.

3) There is then a sliding door out to the back yard and a nook type area that is part of the room but off of the family room....currently a playroom, eventually a sitting area with a table probably. This area has a single window on one wall and a double window on the wall next to it. This area of the family room is directly off the kitchen.

I think any shade option discussed would work, as long as you pick a light, neutral color and nothing too busy or fussy. You just have to decide if you want light-filtering or privacy. If light filtering, then I'd probably do a roller shade and go for the minimalist approach. If privacy, I'd probably do flat roman shades.

Thanks! Yes, Im now leaning towards a light and neutral treatment that is more minimalist so we can keep the room feeling light and airy!
