If this is not yield protection. I don't know what is.. (I know they don't officially practice yield protection.. I have a bridge to sell ya)

DC has admits at other higher ranked schools so no big deal but feel bad for others who were treating Tech as their first choice.

Where is DC accepted?

Brutal, Tech is a safety no more. If it helps anyone, we know several people who got in off the waitlist last year but that was in June, which is a long way to go.

I guess that is what "yield protection" is. they can tell if it is your first choice--or your 5th.

I guess they can tell if it is your financial first choice based on your FAFSA

Hadn’t considered the FAFSa angle, but it might be part of the profile. Note at least two disappointed people here also said not their first choice. Still, no sure way to know.

However, we feel bad for DS's friend who had similar stats but was waitlisted for the business school.

It's a weird year.

Waitlisted with these credentials must mean - waiting to see if DC withdraws the application...
But given some other stats on this page, engineering admits are sounding like UVA admits

Over 42,000 kids applied for 6675 spots - that's less than a 16% acceptance rate (someone earlier on this thread said the acceptance rate used to be 70%???)

They will accept way more than 6675. Probably 3 times more.

Divided by 30% yield rate. It’s more like 50% acceptance rate so far.
