Contact your individual principal if you want to switch. Classes are set based on the fall resurveys, but they can accommodate some changes. |
Yes, all students. Brabrand wants all students to choose hybrid. Schools will honor all requests to switch if there's room. |
| Grades 1-2 should have gone back March 2 and 3-6 go back March 9. |
PP here. We chose virtual for one of our kids (7th). The principal made it sound like there was absolutely no room to accommodate more students than who’d originally chosen hybrid in the summer, so we let our original summer decision to stay home stand. His wording in this new email was interesting. |
It had something to do with wanting time to acclimate the kindergarteners, and maybe also something to do with the large number of monitors still needed for 3-6 (plug: apply to be a monitor if you can). |
| What’s the specific topic of this thread? |
There isn't one, which is what makes it painful. However someone (not sure if it's jsteele or not) has decided that the answer to too many FCPS threads is an over-correction to too few. |
If you'd like to switch, contact your principal. Maybe there's no room and they won't let you. Maybe there is and now they will. |
Yet some new threads have popped up this morning. WTH? Very inconsistent. |
Why do kindergarteners need several weeks in the building alone? I have 2 kids in elementary and they had an hour orientation in the spring. They went to school on the first day of school like everyone else. It isn’t like kindergartners are in the same classroom as 1st and 2nd graders. |
My kids' schools are not accomodating people who chose DL and want to switch to concurrent, but they will allow people to switch to DL. I think Brabrand means all students who signed up for it, not just special ed. |
As the parent of a 1st grader, I don't mind the idea of giving kindergartners a long time to be introduced to school in the building Some districts starts k-ers a week early in normal years -- this is basically doing that now. Those poor kids have never been in the school building before, ever. They've never met their teacher or classmates in person, ever. |
Brabrand meant all students. I'd suggest contacting your school again, if you wish to switch to hybrid. |
1st and 3rd grade parent here. At this point, I'm not quibbling over a week for each of my kids as long as they get in. A week is 2 days of instruction in-person. It's good, but it's not huge or anything. Let's just get the kids in the building and figure out how that works then aim toward 5 days in-person for every medically able student in fall. |
They said at the meeting that parents should be allowed to switch to in person. If your Principal says no contact the regional principal. |
