Winning turtle wax — It seems like a lot of parents are excited about a possible RTS, but as a teacher, if the board approves the plan, I would feel very much like I had won a consolation prize I never wanted. I would only see, at most, one fifth of my students in person, and I would be trying to figure out how to do this concurrent nonsense. So, it’s just hard to look forward to going back to the building.

Not for nothing - but that’s why I feel strongly that they have to get in this year - to work out those kinks for the fall.

I was really hoping I wouldn’t have to do concurrent by then, or at least, if I did, I could do it properly since FCPS would have more time to upgrade their tech. Yeah, I guess that’s being optimistic.

I don’t know how they could justify going back concurrent in the fall. Schools that were in person this year did this or are full time or transitioning to full time. Are we going to be falling behind still and the only ones not full time while everyone else is?

But, to answer above I also think they will argue the timeline based on vaccine.

They have said they’re offering virtual in the fall. I think they should consolidate virtual at the county level in that case - but I have no indication they’ll do that. If they keep it at the base school level - I don’t see how they have enough to do all virtual classes for the most part - hence my guess that there may be some concurrent involved. I definitely don’t know for sure.

Well, I guess we will see how it goes. I really hope I don’t get locked into some half-virtual half-f2f arrangement for the foreseeable future. It doesn’t seem to be optimal conditions for community building.

What does the "Priority Learner" designation mean? What is different or special about that?
Anonymous
It's happening!

UGh please God no concurrent in the fall. They need regular school. They are all going to be so behind!

Definitely! Maybe!

I feel like these dates might actually stick this time! 3 months of two days of school a week is better than nothing. And if it goes well, I think we have a better chance at 5 days a week school in the fall.
Anonymous
Still just confused/concerned what the impact will be in shuffling group order and what that priority learner means for phasing back in. We shall see.

Does anyone know if Fulltime Special Education is going back 4 days per week like before Christmas or 2 days per week in Superintendent's Message?
Anonymous
This thread topic is too broad to be meaningful. All the pointer to this thread in other posts don’t help.

Also, several threads (re: the next school year calendar, when is K returning) all related to this catch hall thread are unlocked, while only a couple are locked.

I really dislike this “master thread” idea for RTS. There are many different topic areas within that super wide topic and I hate trying to read threads that are zillions of pages long.
Anonymous
Please get rid of this master thread. I like the different topics and do not want to read one big thread.

4 for the cohorts that had 4 before. I think that was in the narrative report.

Yes this master thread is useless while the actual conversational thread got shutdown to send here. Try to restart it here but no play. No one wants to come in to this self-declared master thread because it is all specific concerns. No one wants to just have a generic random discussiin.
