If DMV schools don't open in the fall, are you moving?

It's a different ballgame when your kids can handle DL without you co-teaching and can plan their own social lives.

My DC has ADHD, so I’m doing more than “co” teaching.

And my child is a teen, so when it comes to social life, we are on hi alert, like the FBI. OMG. “Planning” his/her social life was far easier.

Hahaha, as if science was on your side to keep schools closed! And as if DCPS had great STEM programs. What an inane comment.

We've applied our one kid to 7 privates. Hoping one comes through but applications are way up all all schools.
Kid #2 is already in private.
Kid #3 in public and struggling but we don't have the money for more private school so didn't apply. This is our youngest kids and we love our elementary... just need in-person.

I'm thinking we may just move over the summer if things are trending virtual in June (which is when we're locked in for private tuition). It seems to be the easiest option.

You do understand that except for Florida, Alabama and South Dakota public schools will be DL for a while on and off right?

I think you should move to Florida or Alabama.

Or Massachusetts
Rhode Island
Georgia
New York
Texas
Vermont
New Hampshire
Maine

I could go on.... you sound misinformed and ignorant.

The entire freaking country is getting kids back.

Baltimore is bringing back every K-5 kids who wants to return on Feb 1.
NYC has brought back EVERY KID for 5 days a week in 250 schools out of 878 total schools. 850/878 have brought back some kids 5 days per week.

VA Schools have moved the opening date about 5 times and one time the day before opening.

They are doing the best at vaxing the teachers though.

Yes. It’s enough. We will vote with our feet.

Who says people are doing this to avoid stress? It’s about the education of their children. Some people are willing to sacrifice for that.

We don't plan to move as a family but we sent our DC to a boarding school. DS will stay there next year if school is virtual.

A lot of school up north (NY, MA) have been open since September too.

It’s not Feb 1 for Baltimore. PreK-2 is Feb 16 and 3- 12 is March 1.

People just aren't willing to parent their kids. I get it.

Your kids are getting an education - that mommy and daddy aren't resilient and can't hack it. And to the women out there doing too much work, either your husband is horrible and lazy or you aren't letting him participate. Your kids are learning that too.

Why wait? You could go to FL next week.

Fairfax county- not moving but we did apply to private.

We did spend the last month in FL doing remote work and virtual school. We drove and rented a house & only did outdoor activities. That was a good change of pace for us.

Can’t afford to move.

I want to parent in a world where there is in person K-12 school & I’m going to advocate for that and I don’t have any shame in it. I strongly value education and the school as social center pedagogy (John Dewey).
