OP, you are wrong here. Pay her and move on. |
Wow. You should be ashamed of yourself, OP. |
Pay her for hours worked! Not even a question. |
Employer obligations don’t kick in until over $2100 to one person in a year, I think. https://www.google.com/amp/s/blog.turbotax.intuit.com/income-and-investments/do-babysitters-have-to-report-their-income-on-taxes-33550/amp/ |
OP here. A nanny has to make $2200/year or more to claim it on here taxes. She will be working less than that and doesn’t need to pay taxes. |
+1, this is such a pet peeve of mine. Pay the woman her money, dammit. |
OP here. I guess we will pay. I haven’t told she is fired yet. I’ve been trying to find other care first. She’s been texting us for the past 3 days multiple times. It’s annoying. |
Not as annoying as you not paying her money that she's earned. |
As annoying as your employer not paying you the money you earned? What's wrong with you!! |
You need to pay her for days worked. She probably already figured out she is fired if she hasn't hear from you or just began looking on her own. What kind of employer goes MIA when an employee is sick? You sound difficult. |
I agree with OP. You should pay her but you can fire her if you want. She can take a hint and I’m sure she knows she’s already fired. Ghosting is effective. |
Exactly. |
Pay her what she is owed asap. You are a scoundrel.
Are you from a culture that "looks down" on "the help" and believes they are "less worthy" than you are? |
You’re a deadbeat, OP. PAY HER WHAT YOU OWE. Who gives a flying f if you are annoyed!! |
Oh you won't need to fire her. Who would come back to a job that flakes on paying you right off the bat? I get she was unreliable and that you were generous with the day you canceled, but unless you told her that was an advance or something, you totally owe her for work done. Watch out for karma. |
