Do We Have To Pay Her?

Anonymous
As a career nanny I just want to thank all the comments on here against the OP.

I truly appreciate it

OP here. I realize this shows me in a negative light. I came out here and posted out of anger. She cost my husband $10k when she canceled and I felt like we shouldn’t have had to pay her the $100 since she cost us so much money. We paid and fired her. I’m hoping we have a better experience with our next nanny.

She didn't cost your husband $10K. If he lost a business deal, that's on him. You payee for days she worked and days you canceled.

While I sympathize, if he lost a deal, you should have had back up care worked out. How were you planning on covering the nanny’s vacation and sick leave?

Anonymous wrote:You fired her because she was sick and had a family emergency? But then didn't tell her you were firing her right away (hence delaying her ability to find another job)? And you didn't want to pay her for one of the days she worked (with some sort of weird justification that it was okay because you paid her for a day you agreed she would work and then ended up deciding not to use her that day)? And her pay was $100 a day, which is outrageously low unless it was a very short day?

I hope this is made up. Otherwise you are a horrible person.

Yeah, and then when they finally do fire her, complain that she is rude and "not very understanding" about it. Nightmare employer.

Op we had a nanny who hit our kids. I always wondered why they cried so much on her days. The neighbors saw her (2 different neighbors while walking them ) she was obviously psycho. We paid her to permanently get her out of our lives (before I hit HER!)

^^ I was a ftm and I would be so tired while the babies screamed their heads off. Thank you forever neighbors for looking out for my kids.

Yup. You are being seen in a negative light because you were being petty and a bad employer.

You’re an idiot. And that’s putting it nicely. No adult should be ghosting an employee. Would you want your job ghosting you?!

OP> why didn't YOU take care of *your own* children when the nanny was sick??

Your husband must be a really disorganized business person if he loses 10K when the nanny is sick. You two are really, really unprepared to be parents.

I am a single mom by choice and I run my own business. I have never lost a dime due to childcare interruptions.

Good luck with that!! Karma.
Nannies need a national list for parents like you.

Ghosting your employee? Grow up!!

Just tell her now, pay her, move on. Be an adult.
