I forgot to add: “ Class schedules for students will be available the week of August 24th on myMCPS Canvas.” |
Same. same. How are we working parents supposed to plan and notify our offices of those plans when we don’t know! |
|
Just take a deep breadth. Everything will be fine. Trust me. The fact that you are anxious means that your DC’s education means a lot to you, even though it’s DL. This means that your DC will pickup on that and he/she will focus on learning. As an adult and a parent, I’m sure you’ve overcame much more difficult and stressful situations before. Again, you and especially your DC will be fine. |
Is the schedule the same at all MCPS middle schools? |
Yes. The plan requires all schools to follow the same schedule. |
Except that not all middle schools have 8 periods. It is unclear how period 8 will be used at middle schools where students are enrolled in 7 classes. In addition, it is unclear what the 2:30-3:15 block is for and if it is mandatory. It is also unclear if the Wednesday schedule is set and if the 20 minute classes are mandatory. |
I teach MS. I’d love to know if my classes are odd/even or sequential. Luckily, they decided HS could be sequential so DH and my own kids at least know their schedules. |
Wed is now check ins and not mandatory. 2:30-3:15 is a daily study hall with virtual clubs at some schools. Not mandatory. Some schools will have double period math for the first time this year. Others are doing SEL and clubs then. |
Mr. Staton is awesome. I am so grateful for his weekly emails. But not every principal is as good with communication. At the high school level, we have only received one long, rambling email a couple weeks ago. I wish - especially since we are getting closer - we could start to have more frequent emails. At least with dates to remind us. I had to re-read the letter from August 2nd to be reminded there is a PTSA meeting this Wednesday and freshman new parent orientation on the 27th. Plus, I still don't have a school supply list for HS. Obviously, I know to get the basics (highlighters, notebooks, erasers, paper, etc) but it would be nice to have in case there are any surprises on the list (like the dry erase board on the JW school supply list) |
Had the chance to work with him and he is amazing! Totally jealous of this communication! Thanks for sharing! |
Seriously?! |
Thanks for this perspective! I think my anxiety is less about DC's education, and more about the uncertainty of what our schedule is going to be like in the next 5 months and how DH and I can effectively juggle our own schedules on top of helping out our kids. |
You’re welcomed. While I understand your situation, but there are people with much bigger problems than we have such as single parent, lack of English comprehension, bad financial situations, etc. Either way, God Bless everyone and let’s hope we get out this situation safely. |
How is that helpful to know their schedules? I assume that they don't have their schedules yet. |
