Are you ready?

We have as much info as we ever do 2 weeks out. The kids don’t typically get their class assignments until right before school starts. What other info are you specifically asking for?

I would also like to know what other information OP is expecting, at this point.

We have Chromebooks; we have wifi; we know what classes the kids are signed up for; MCPS knows how to contact us (and does) via e-mail, text, and landline; what else would we need to know or have right now, in order to be ready for school starting in 2 weeks?

Well normally I know that my kid starts school at 920 and gets out at 3.50 so there's that........Are they doing all day or half days?
At a minumum to know that would be nice.
Also, are we getting physical textbooks?

I have an old chromebook but am supposed to go pick up a newer one on Tuesday at our Elem. nothing has been said about physical books or worksheets or anything, or whether they will be doing everything online?
And is it 5 full days?

Our school sent a daily schedule for each grade. Contact your principal.

For classes where there would ordinarily be physical textbooks: it's likely.

For classes where there would not ordinarily be physical textbooks: no.

I want:
(1) a tutorial on online systems, how to keep track of whether my kid is doing what they are supposed to
(2) more clarity on schedules and expectations. Will they be on zoom the whole time? Can we go back and watch missed classes? What’s the deal with Wednesday’s.

Basically, a district-wide grade specific webinar (or better yet, from individual schools) on how the day will go. That would do a lot to help me structure workspace and expectations/rules for my kids. Generally I’m pretty hands off, but it’s frustrating not to have info to plan how to start off on the right foot.

Again, our ES has sent out much of this information. Contact your principal.

All those information are on the website except for the text books. Look there before complaining. Geez.

But did you ever get text book info 2 weeks before school started pre-COVID?

Parent of ES student here. Our school sent a sample schedule And has done a good job of keeping us updated. There is clearly a lot of planning going on at our school. Yes, we are ready; this summer has felt never-ending.

On the bright side, this thread is really just the 2020 version of the traditional annual DCUM back-to-school thread on the topic of "MCPS needs to tell me every detail way ahead of time because that's how I manage my anxiety about uncertainty."

Why are you confused about the schedule? It is 9-3:15 for all students on M, T, R, F. On Wednesday for ES they go h til lunch and for secondary there are optional checkins. This was addressed in the parent meeting, and there are sample schedules in the plan.
